Résidence des Amériques
Le Conseil des arts de Montréal offre à la Fonderie Darling un programme de résidences pour les artistes et commissaires en art visuels professionnels en provenance du continent américain. Une résidence de trois mois est attribuée à un/e artiste et deux mois à un/e commissaire à la suite d’un processus d’évaluation par un comité de programmation.
Un atelier lumineux et fonctionnel de 60 m2 (voir photos ci-dessus) avec un logement intégré et des aires communes sont mis à la disposition des résidents. Les artistes ont également accès à une connexion Internet haute vitesse, aux ateliers de bois et de métal ainsi qu’à un encadrement technique au besoin. Par des activités de développement de public mises en place par l’équipe de la Fonderie Darling, les résidents jouissent de multiples opportunités de promotion. Ils ont ainsi l’occasion de rencontrer le public montréalais en participant activement à des journées portes ouvertes, des visites d’ateliers par des professionnels du milieu de l’art et des groupes de diverses provenances et compositions.
La résidence comprend:
- Un billet aller-retour (max 1200 $CAN)
- Artiste : Un atelier-logement pour trois mois (1 janvier au 30 mars)
- Commissaire : Un atelier-logement pour deux mois (1 avril au 30 mai)
- Un défraiement de 250 $CAN par semaine
La sélection s’assure d’offrir une représentation et une considération équitables par rapport aux éléments suivants : domaines artistiques, sexes, peuples autochtones et différentes cultures du monde entier.

Du 9 novembre au 16 décembre 2013
Nous invitons tous les artistes professionnels à participer à la HUITIÈME EXPOSITION INTERNATIONALE D’ESTAMPE NUMÉRIQUE MINIATURE, qui se tiendra à Ottawa (Canada) du 9 novembre au 16 décembre 2013.
On demande aux artistes de soumettre leurs estampes numériques de 25 cm par 20 cm (jusqu’à deux par artiste) au plus tard le 29 juin 2013.
L’édition 2013 de l’exposition porte le thème Une vision du futur. Le texte expliquant le thème se retrouve sur le site web cité ci-dessous. L’artiste doit remplir le formulaire et rédiger un court texte faisant le lien entre l’œuvre présentée et le thème de l’exposition.
Le commissaire, André Paquin, fera la sélection des œuvres pour l’exposition et un jury composé de trois artistes réputés décernera trois prix en argent et des mentions d’honneur.
La participation à l’exposition est gratuite pour tous. L’exposition se tiendra au Centre d’artistes Voix Visuelle.

DIAGONALE invite les commissaires et les artistes en arts visuels à proposer leurs dossiers pour la programmation régulière du centre.
L’appel de dossier s’adresse à tous les artistes qu’ils soient des artistes « occasionnels » de la fibre ou des inconditionnels du domaine.
DIAGONALE regroupe des artistes du Québec et du Canada. Il a pour premier objectif la promotion et la diffusion du travail des artistes en arts visuels qui utilisent les techniques et/ou les procédés relevant du domaine des arts de la fibre. Le centre établit un dialogue avec les artistes de toutes les disciplines afin de favoriser le métissage au niveau des idées.
Art / Fibre
Il faut mieux parler de fibre et non de textile qui est une matière propre à être tissée. La fibre désigne quant à elle toute matière filamenteuse de forme allongée, d’origine naturelle ou non, qui entre dans la composition d’un corps ou d’un objet. Ses qualités tactiles ainsi que sa structure molle et flexible constituent des potentialités spécifiques indéniables.
Entrent dans la catégorie : la fibre, le fil et le tissu incluant les fibres végétales, animales, synthétiques et artificielles, les fils métalliques, les tubulures plastiques, les lanières de cuir, les languettes de bois, les bandelettes de papiers et la fourrure.
Les techniques et les procédés comprennent toutes les formes de construction et de traitement possible ; couture, tissage, haute lice, maillage, tressage, nouage, dentelle, broderie, laminage, façonnage, feutrage, taille direct, assemblage, gaufrage, feutrage, pliage, froissage, entrelacs, plissage, moulage, teinture, etc.
En prenant compte le concept fibre on doit ajouter les possibilités d’intégration de techniques et de matériaux propres à d’autres pratiques. La fibre peut être évoquée, représentée ou utilisée. On retrouve de tout chez DIAGONALE : la peinture, la sculpture, l’installation, la vidéo, la performance …
Les artistes ou les projets d’exposition sont sélectionnés par un comité de membres et d’invités extérieurs. DIAGONALE encourage la réalisation d’activités novatrices qui élargissent la notion de concept fibre.

Artcite Inc., Windsor’s only registered charitable, non-profit Artist-Run Centre for the Contemporary Arts, invites proposals from individual artists, artist-teams and collectives for large-scale works to be exhibited–and burned–at Artcite’s 9th Fahrenheit Festival of Fire Sculpture–Canada’s first–and still only–international fire sculpting festival.
Since 2008, this popular, public fundraising event has been held on open parklands at the Vollmer Culture and Recreation Centre in the Town of LaSalle, Ontario (a bedroom community 10 minutes from Windsor and Detroit, MI), and has attracted enthusiastic, all-ages audiences of 2200+ from across Southeastern Ontario and Michigan.
« Fire sculpture » harnesses the primal power of fire as a creative, performative act. The beauty of this powerful art form is not limited to the creation of a beautiful object (what is traditionally considered the « art »), but is rather focused on how each unique sculpture burns. Skilled fire artists are able to use a minimum of means to control and shape the tempo, pace and burning pattern of the fire, so that the sculpture doesn’t resemble, or burn, like a bonfire. The public, night-time spectacle of the Fahrenheit « burn » is fleeting, kinetic and encompasses a singular moment that cannot be restaged.

For purposes of the 2013 Fahrenheit Festival, « Fire Sculptures » are large-scale (minimum, approximately 10’w x 10’d x 10′-20’+ h), outdoor works constructed primarily of natural materials (wood, straw, rope, etc. with wire and metal hardware as fasteners, and metal plates, mud etc. as counterbalances, etc.) that burn for approximately 10 minutes. Works with a « surprise » kinetic element are especially encouraged. Chemical accelerants and toxic materials will not be allowed. Please note that Fest site may not be as depicted in attached photos (pond location may not be available).
Participating artists and artist-teams will receive basic sculpture construction materials (wood, straw, baling wire), an artist’s fee (TBA, per sculpture) and unedited video and photo documentation of the event. Out-of-town artists and artist-teams will be reimbursed for receipted travel expenses (to a max. of $250 per artist and/or team), and will receive accommodation assistance. Members of the Control.Burn Collective (Artcite’s Fahrenheit 2013 artist-organizing committee) will be available to offer advice and assistance prior to proposal submission and sculpture construction to first-time fire sculpting artists and teams. ARTSPACE Peterborough is seeking proposals from visual, performance, and new media artists for its 2014/15 programming season.
2014/15 Deadline Extended: July 15, 2013 (postmarked)
ARTSPACE is dedicated to presenting work from contemporary artists working in a variety of disciplines. We strive to present art that reflects and promotes the diversity of cultural and political perspectives that shape contemporary art practices. Submissions from emerging, mid-career and senior artists whose works are alternative, experimental and/or critically engaged are welcome. ARTSPACE receives a high volume of submissions. Before submitting, please look at past exhibitions and projects at www.artspace-arc.org to decide if your work fits the gallery mandate.
With multiple exhibition spaces available, we invite artists to apply in the following streams:
MAIN GALLERY: designated for the presentation of solo and group shows. We invite artists, collectives and curators to apply with new or existing exhibition proposals. Video installations will not be considered for the Main Gallery given the natural light in the space from full exposure windows.
MUDROOM: a black-box gallery designated for the presentation of short-term, experimental projects predominantly by local and regional artists, as well as presentation of video installations and single channel works.
NEW MEDIA: we are seeking proposals for Media installations. Please note all technical requirements in proposals.
PERFORMANCE/RESIDENCY: We are seeking proposals for original performance pieces. We are also interested in works that are participatory in nature and fall under the category of relational aesthetics. In addition, we invite artists to consider doing workshops and lectures during their stay in an effort to engage local artists in research and production. Duration of residency may vary depending on the nature of work and research.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
ARTSPACE asks that all proposals be submitted electronically on CD or DVD. Disks should be clearly labeled by artist name and must be readable on MAC OSX. Please save supporting documents as individually labeled pdfs (CV.pdf, Proposal.pdf, StatementandBio.pdf etc.).
ALL SUBMISSIONS MUST INCLUDE:
- Brief project proposal and any technical requirements (one page maximum)
- Artist statement and Bio
- Current CV
- Documentation of recent work
Images should be labeled numerically with the artist’s name (01_name.jpg, 02_name.jpg etc.) and should be no larger than 1024 x 768 at 300 dpi. Video documentation may be presented either in DVD format or as Mac OSX playable files. Please select a clip that runs no longer than 5 mins. Please include an Image/Video list with brief descriptions.
Do not submit original artwork. ARTSPACE does not return submission packages and will dispose of materials appropriately.

Programming Policy
Programming decisions are made by the Programming/Publications Committee which is composed of the Director, the Media Arts Coordinator, 2 working artists and curators from the Board of Directors and Membership, and 1 invited artist or curator from outside of Peterborough. Proposals are judged in relation to ARTSPACE’s mandate and programming focus.
In the past, ARTSPACE has presented exhibitions organized by staff, advisory panels, and guest curators, with artworks drawn primarily (but not exclusively) from an open-call review process.
ARTSPACE pays recommended CAR/FAC artist fees. Group shows have various fees according to the number of participants and work included. Duration of exhibitions may vary from project to project. In addition to artist fees,
ARTSPACE pays for the transportation of work one-way, up to a maximum amount; installation and documentation costs; a reception; publicity; and insurance coverage. Short-term accommodation can also be provided.

Design Exchange, in partnership with RBC, is pleased to announce the RBC EMERGING DESIGNER COMPETITION, an exciting national competition that seeks to provide an unparalleled opportunity for emerging Canadian designers to gain recognition and exposure, while celebrating the immense and diverse design talent in Canada.
Eligibility
Participation is open to all Canadian designers with no more than five years of professional industry experience, across all disciplines. Projects submitted should be realized work, or be in the process of being realized.
Why participate?
The winner will receive a cash prize of $10,000, and will also be partnered with a curatorial mentor who will aid them in the development of an exhibition to be featured at the Design Exchange in January of 2014, to coincide with Toronto’s internationally celebrated Design Week.
Secondary awards will be presented, including best of category awards, where participants may receive a $1,000 cash prize.
All winning and honourable mention work will be featured onsite at the Design
Exchange during the 2014 Design Week, in an awards publication, and in an online exhibition.

Register for the competition prior to September 1, 2013 on the Design Exchange website (dx.org). A registration number will be sent to you via email. Be sure to place that number on all submitted material, including your entry form which can also be found on the DX website. A jury comprised of design heavyweights, including Heather Reisman, Marcel Wanders, and Douglas Coupland, as well as representatives from RBC will review all valid entries.

The jury reserves the right not to award prizes. The jury’s decision is final. The Design Exchange will notify the winning Emerging Designer, and any secondary winners, on October 25, 2013.

Attention: Artists, Activist, Filmmakers, Community Builders, Aboriginal Historians, Poster Makers, Social Media Fanatics, Lobbyists, Documentarians, Protestors, Elders and Storytellers.
ATTESTING RESISTANCE is a curatorial project leading to an on-line exhibition with an open call for submissions. We are seeking works by visual artists/creative minds (not exclusively Aboriginal people) that respond to Aboriginal resistance. These works likely embody the spirit of protest and embrace the solidarity against abusive and unfair government/cultural action and media interpretation. This particular curatorial conversation evolved from decades of unjust treatment of Aboriginal communities, whose resistance has been documented and represented with imbalance by mainstream news media and propaganda. This exhibition is dedicated to supporting the alternative perspectives and narratives, which may help locate and/or re-discover some of the strategies of resistance employed by Indigenous peoples (throughout history) that might otherwise go unnoticed if not documented or articulated through these symbolic artworks.
This on-line exhibition is being supported and hosted by the Aboriginal Curatorial Collective (http://www.aboriginalcuratorialcollective.org). As such, all work will be mediated through an online exhibition website gallery, freely accessible to the vast public. We are encouraging both unconventional and traditional artworks for submission, however the final presentation of the artworks will be digital (e.g. Digital 2D works, photography, digital files, digital 3D, video), or the documentation of physical works that will be used as the exhibition media (e.g. a digital photograph of a sculpture or performance). We will not accept physical hard copies of any kind. We will also not be accepting proposals of incomplete works; we ask that all submitted works be documented in their finished form by the submission deadline date. There is no limit on the number of submissions given by individual artists; however, we hope that artists will submit works they feel best relate to the theme of the exhibition.
Selected artists will receive modest artist fees for their participation that will be determined shortly after all artists have been selected. Only selected participants will be notified, which will occur approximately three weeks after the submission deadline. With the curatorial frame of this project, the intention is to incorporate a diverse range of artworks that can span generations, histories, actions, intentions, and disciplines, and will hopefully include many different approaches/perspectives to making art (didactic, lyrical, experimental, and conceptual). Ultimately, the project will rest on the overall theme of ‘attesting resistance’ to converge the works together.

THE NEW GALLERY – MAIN SPACE CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

The New Gallery (TNG) is currently seeking proposals for our 2014 Main Space programming. A detailed floor plan and additional information can be found on our website: thenewgallery.org/submit.
Main Space programming comprises exhibitons by artists, collaborators, curators, and other cultural producers from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. We work closely with artists to create critically-relevant shows that advance contemporary art in our local and national communities. Please note that TNG accepts proposals for solo shows, but the Programming Committee may also consider individual artists for inclusion in a curated group project.
TNG is an non-profit artist-run centre and observes CARFAC-stipulated payment schedules, offering an artist fee of $1739 for a solo show. Additionally, we provide limited financial resources to aid artists in managing shipping and travel costs.
The following materials should be included in your application:
1. Proposal: Briefly describe your exhibition or Main Space project. Provide complete details of your spatial, physical, and material requirements, including any special equipment and technical needs.
2. Artist Statement: Discuss how your proposed project is situated in relation to your current artistic practice and the broader context of your work, research, and interests.
3. Support: Please include up to fifteen pieces of additional support material, including digital images, videos, text excerpts, or audio clips alongside a corresponding numbered image list detailing the artwork’s title, medium, physical size, date of completion, and any other necessary descriptors. Our Programming Committee will review up to a maximum of five minutes of time-based work.
4. Curriculum Vitae: Describe your artistic background to a maximum length of three pages. Please include all relevant contact information.
The New Gallery only accepts digital submissions via e-mail. Paper materials will be discarded and recycled. Please format all written materials as a single .pdf document. Prefix Photo encourages submissions of new or previously unpublished photography for editorial consideration. Submissions should include visual support material in the form of digital files, 35mm slides, transparencies, work prints, laser prints, etc.; a written description of the work, if available; and a curriculum vitae of the artist. Modessqe Sp. z o.o. announces a call for entries for the Modessqe 1st International Painting Contest for artists from Poland and abroad who use paint as means of their artistic expression. The topic of the first edition of the Contest is “Perfectionists”.

The objective of the competition is to select a collection of awarded works which will be made available to the public at a post-competition exhibition in Warsaw organized at Skwer – a branch of the Fabryka Trzciny Art Center.

Since 1999, Camac Art Centre with Fondation Ténot has aimed to promote creativity and international exchange in the artist community. Camac and Fondation Ténot offer each year three residency bursaries to one visual artist, one writer and one musician or composer in order to create new career prospects for artists.
Camac is located 60 minutes away from Paris in the village of Marnay sur Seine within the scenic region of Champagne-Ardenne. This multi-disciplinary creative centre offers a unique environment for visual artist, writers or musicians. Camac aims at fostering communication and creativity among individuals and groups working on the evolution of ideas or realization of works.
Nature of the bursary
Two-month residency in 2014 (dates to be arranged by mutual agreement between the artist and the institution); return ticket, board and lodging; private bedroom with bathroom, individual studio. The laureate must provide his/her own visas and health insurance.
Visual arts
Eligibility: Professional artists of established ability or emergent artist.
The candidate must be motivated and open to discussion on contemporary art practice and the challenge of visual arts. This year, the BERLINER LISTE offers up an international platform for photography in Berlin with the new Photography Section. With its long traditions in photography and its many exhibition halls, Berlin plays a significant role in the photography world—more than enough reason to open up an exhibition section dedicated to the discipline. The Kraftwerk Berlin, with its unique, urban ambience releases sacral qualities with its huge, high ceilings. The industrial monument offers an incomparable architectural stage to exhibit classical photography as well as exiting new tendacies. The Photography Section will be given visual prominence within this year’s exhibition space and be readily identifiable. The section is expected to attract many photography lovers and collectors. Curator Stephan Köhler is Project Manager of the Photography Section and will put together an impressive programme of international galleries and foundations exclusively focused on photography. Among the additional features is the awarding of the Peter C. Schlüschen sport photography prize (endowed with 10.000 EUR). Founded in 1977, eva International is an artist-centred biennial of contemporary art that works with acclaimed guest curators to present exhibitions and events across the city of Limerick, Ireland. eva International 2014 is the 36th edition and will be part of Limerick City of Culture 2014 celebrations. Artists’ projects will be selected through an international open call for proposals and exhibitions will take place in both gallery and non-gallery spaces. A programme of talks, workshops and events will accompany the biennial and the open call for proposals includes opportunities for artists’ projects that engage with the city and its communities.

About Bassam El Baroni
Bassam El Baroni is a curator and art critic based in Alexandria, Egypt. In 2005 he co-founded the non-profit art space Alexandria Contemporary Arts Forum (ACAF), and was its Director until December 2012. In 2010, he was co-curator of Manifesta 8, Murcia, Spain, and is currently a PhD researcher in the Curatorial/Knowledge program at Goldsmiths, University of London. El Baroni is currently co-curating the Lofoten International Art Festival (LIAF, with Anne Szefer Karlsen and Eva González-Sancho), that will open in September 2013 in Vågan, Lofoten Islands, Norway.

Big beautiful data is everywhere. Sounds are everywhere. Images are everywhere. Our lives are tracked relentlessly. The network sends and receives everything. We capture, post, follow, share and archive. Data becomes us.
March 2013 was the 100-year anniversary of the publication of Luigi Rusullo’s Art of Noises, and in the ensuing century the proliferation of mechanical noise has reached a critical density. Our accumulated audio-visual virtuality has been working towards a zeitgeist moment for some time. David Gelernter, researcher at Yale, has been foregrounding the concept of “life streaming” for several decades. Now it would seem, the stream has become a torrent.
Today we live to the beat of signals, alarms and alerts – a constant stream of audio-visual reminders that we live in increments of time amidst layers of metadata. We move and we are tracked by GPS, recognised by software, matched against databases, evaluated by life-tracking devices and mapped by our profiles and usernames. This new aesthetic of machine ambience is at once an embodiment of our private present selves but also an ambient beautification of what lies in our wake. Photo streams, playlists, check-ins, recommendations, resolutions, bucket-lists, posts, comments and feeds all embellishing the spaces and flows of our virtual habitats. We have become the exquisite beast in the garden, with all her flair, colour and boundless expression.
Images of you and me and us are embedded into this fanfare as icons of our identity. This aural and visual accumulation of our lives has created an immense data pool that is embellished by everything we see and everything that we say on the network. This meta-ambience is cross-fading our public, commercial and private spaces like tracks on an iPod Shuffle. We remix our environment by just being present in it. We bring our own signal noise with us wherever we go. We are fast becoming the sample bank of a dense ambient mix of images and sound.
But what does this look like? With what forms of expression is this data being exposed? How do we construct our own ambient worlds? How is Big Data constructing it for us? What do we show and what do we choose to conceal and what is beyond our control? Where does our ambience end and where do that of others begin? How do our rituals of culture, work and family inform who we are through the ambient streams we leave in our wake?
The 5th International Screengrab New Media Arts Award seeks works that explore the theme of ambience – personal, virtual and commercial – and all its private, political and social connotations. Creators, imagineers and explorers of big data, augmented reality, data aesthetics, generative art, audio/visual collage and interactive environments are encouraged to submit works that address the theme of ambience.
The Call Out
SCREENGRAB is now entering its fifth year with an international call out for the AUS$5000 New Media Arts Prize and the companion exhibition in July/August 2013 for short listed applicants. We invite digital practitioners working in screen based media to submit works on the theme of AMBIENCE.
All forms of screen based media are encouraged including multi-channel video, digital illustration, audio sculpture, photography, generative media, 2D & 3D animation.
Existing works and those specifically designed for the award must address the theme of AMBIENCE to be eligible for the New Media Arts award.

The Szpilman Award is awarded to works that exist only for a moment or a short period of time. The purpose of the award is to promote such works whose forms consist of ephemeral situations.
The Szpilman Award is awarded annually.
The prize winner receives the Jackpot Stipendium.
This scholarship consists of three parts:
A challenge cup, 10 days of accommodation in Cimochowizna (Poland), and a sum of money in cash.
The amount of money is dynamic. Szpilman is raising money parallel to the competition. The prize winner receives the money that is raised until September 30, 2013. The current score may be checked here.
Among the applicants, one award winner will be identified.
The challenge cup will be handed over to the next prize winner in the subsequent year.
Everyone can apply for the Szpilman Award.

Located in Marfa, Texas, USA, this unique platform is intended for emerging artists and researchers whose projects require immersion into the specific environment of Marfa town and Texas territory, necessitating movement through geography as well as time and space for the purposes of specific research work.
The residency time period is of two months and comes with a research grant of 2000 USD, enabling the applicants to produce theoretical and/or practical work using their own methodologies, with support from a number of professional partners, specialized stakeholders and educational institutions.
Residents are selected on the basis of a research project in direct relationship with the context, through all its material, historical as well as political dimensions. The thematic focus for 2014 is: ‘borders’. Of 6 candidates chosen, 3 are alumni from HEAD Genève and/or les Beaux-Arts de Nantes.

We are seeking to appoint a visual artist for a one-year studio-based residency in Fine Art, School of Arts and Cultures at Newcastle University. The residency will culminate in a solo show at Matt’s Gallery, London in 2014. During the residency the artist will be based full-time in the Fine Art studios in Newcastle University and will be expected to locate in or near Newcastle for the duration of the Residency. Work(s) developed during the residency will form the basis of an exhibition at Matt’s Gallery, London, following the ethos of the gallery that rests upon the presentation of work developed on site.
The post signals an exciting new collaboration between Matt’s Gallery and Fine Art at Newcastle University and the successful candidate will be selected by a panel representing both organisations including Director of Matt’s Gallery Robin Klassnik. We are entirely open about the kind of artist we want to appoint, though we anticipate appointing an artist with an exciting and dynamic visual art practice that lends itself to being developed in interesting ways through the opportunity to work with a leading UK gallery and art school.

Residency of the Americas – Darling Foundry
The Conseil des arts de Montréal offers a residency program at the Darling Foundry for professional visual artists and curators from the Americas (including Canada but not Quebec). Each year, one artist is awarded a three-month residency and one curator a two-month residency. Each resident receives a grant that contributes towards living expenses, travel fees and production costs.
A studio measuring 60 m2 with accommodation is provided. Washing and cooking facilities are shared with the other resident artists. Residents have access to wood and metal workshops, with technical assistance if need be. In addition, each resident is given the option to participate in open studio events, studio visits by art professionals, networking events, and excursions.
The committee ensures fair representation and consideration of artistic specialization, gender, Aboriginal peoples and cultures from around the world.
The residency includes:
– Airfare (max CAN$1,200)
- Artist : live-in studio for three months from January 1st to March 30th, 2014
- Curator : live-in studio for two months from April 1st to May 30th, 2014
- A stipend of CAN$250 per week

Atelier Topaz – résidence
Opasatika, Ontario, Canada
Le lieu
Situés au cœur de la forêt boréale, les Ateliers Topaz sont à la fois un lieu de retraite et un centre de création pour artistes, toutes disciplines confondues. L’endroit parfait pour la réflexion, l’évasion. Le groupement d’édifices fait 900 mètres carrés et repose sur 14 hectares face à la route Transcanadienne. Il donne sur un étang de deux hectares. Topaz c’est la « Route 66 » dans le nord de l’Ontario. L’endroit, modeste et nostalgique, rappelle aussi les grandes épopées de la colonisation francophone de l’Ontario. Ces studios de création ou cette résidence d’artistes, endroit idéal pour les arts visuels, sont situés au centre du Canada, à mi-chemin entre l’Atlantique et le Pacifique, là où les étoiles deviennent les topazes de la nuit.
Ce qu’on offre
D’abord l’espace et, l’espace de travail déterminés selon les besoins de l’artiste. Les espaces polyvalents permettent d’y faire de la peinture, de la sculpture, de l’installation, etc. L’atelier de menuiserie, le Bar à clou, est équipé des outils de base. Un magasin d’objets trouvés est disponible autant pour l’inspiration que pour l’utilisation dans une œuvre. Le peintre apporte ses pinceaux, le musicien son instrument et l’écrivain son ordi.
Les personnes qui séjournent aux Ateliers Topaz jouissent de l’accès à la cuisine et sont responsables de préparer leurs repas. Toutefois Laurent peut aussi leur cuisiner de petits plats typiquement canadiens-français aux besoins ou aux désirs.
Topaz possède deux suites avec lit double et une chambre avec lit simple. Chacune possède sa salle de toilette avec douche. Ces installations évoquent admirablement le style des années 1960.
Pour la baignade, le Lac des Cœurs se situe à deux kilomètres à l’est. Pour le canotage ou la pèche, la rivière Opasatika est deux kilomètres à l’ouest. Pour se déplacer, il y a de vieux vélos ou la marche. Pour un frais très raisonnable, votre hôte peut aussi vous conduire ou organiser un déplacement vers Kapuskasing à l’est ou vers Hearst à l’ouest.
Les matériaux d’artistes ne sont pas disponibles dans la région. Il est donc important de faire vos achats avant votre séjour, à moins que vous travailliez avec des matériaux que l’on peut se procurer dans des magasins ordinaires ou même en nature.

This monument will honour the victims and Canadian survivors of the Holocaust and ensure that the Holocaust continues to have a permanent place in our nation’s consciousness and memory. Up to six finalists will be chosen to participate in phase two of the competition, where they will be asked to prepare a design concept and present their work to the jury in February 2014. Nouveau directeur général à la Maison des artistes
Saint-Boniface (Manitoba), le 27 juin 2013 – La Maison des artistes visuels francophones inc. (MDA) poursuit son rôle de centre artistique visuel au sein de la communauté franco-manitobaine avec un nouveau directeur général à sa barre. « Nous avons reçu plusieurs excellentes candidatures », affirme Stéphane Dorge, président du conseil d’administration de la MDA. « Monsieur Eric Plamondon s’est distingué par son professionnalisme et son engagement communautaire exemplaires. Nous sommes convaincus qu’il saura contribuer pleinement à l’épanouissement de la Maison des Artistes. »
Fier franco-manitobain, Monsieur Plamondon est titulaire d’une maîtrise de l’Université Dalhousie et d’un baccalauréat de l’Université d’Ottawa. Il a travaillé pour des institutions gouvernementales fédérales, provinciales ainsi qu’au sein d’organismes communautaires francophones telles que le Directorat de l’activité sportive dont il était le cofondateur et La Liberté pour laquelle il était chroniqueur. « La MDA cherche à mettre l’accent sur la création de nouveaux partenariats et nous sommes persuadés que monsieur Plamondon possède les compétences et connaissances nécessaires pour nous aider à atteindre ce but », poursuit M. Dorge.
Il importait à la MDA de se doter d’un directeur général polyvalent, ayant aussi un respect fondamental pour les artistes. En fait, M. Dorge déclare qu’il est « heureux que M. Plamondon soit actif dans la communauté artistique, entre autres, comme comédien. Cette compréhension intrinsèque de l’art visuel et de l’art actuel lui permettra de renforcer les liens entre la MDA et la communauté artistique. »
Le nouveau directeur général entrera en fonction à la fin du mois de juillet et se joindra au directeur artistique, Eric Lesage. « Je prévois une transition fluide grâce à la continuité qu’apportera M. Lesage et à la diversité de l’expertise du conseil d’administration », ajoute le nouveau directeur général, Eric Plamondon. « Mais surtout, je prévois une transition harmonieuse, car nous représentons des artistes visuels très talentueux avec qui beaucoup sera possible. »
Située dans l’ancien hôtel de ville de Saint-Boniface, la MDA incorpore une galerie d’art contemporain, une galerie communautaire et un jardin de sculptures contemporain. Elle agit comme centre d’artistes œuvrant avec la communauté francophone du Manitoba, en plus de soutenir la diffusion d’œuvres dans toutes les disciplines d’art visuelles par des expositions, des échanges, des ateliers, des résidences d’artistes et la création et promotion de l’art publique dans le Jardin de sculptures.
