Description du programme
À la suite d’une dotation de 1,5 million de dollars au Conseil des arts du Canada par la Fondation de la famille Samuel et Saidye Bronfman, le Prix Saidye-Bronfman est devenu un Prix du Gouverneur général, réservé exclusivement aux artistes des métiers d’art depuis mars 2007. - jusqu’à six prix de 25 000 $ chacun sont remis pour des réalisations artistiques distinguées en arts visuels (y compris l’architecture et la photographie) ou en arts médiatiques;

Call for Submissions from Project Coordinator and Peake Street member, Kelly Caseley:
Peake Street is partnering with the small town market gallery for an exhibit of self -portraits.
I, Defined will be a look at Peake Street artists (both established and new members) as we are today. We’re asking artists to interpret their identity as it is at this moment in time and to represent that in a new and original work of art. These portraits need not be actual physical depictions of yourself. Feel free to interpret the idea of a self portrait in whatever way you choose.
Business:
The small town market gallery lends itself best to pieces which can be wall mounted. Any sculptural pieces would be at risk of being heavily handled, and the space for such pieces is very limited. Please contact me privately at peakestreetstudios [arobas] gmail [point] com if you would like more details.
The show is non-juried, all submissions will be accepted so long as they are not deemed offensive.
Artists will be asked to pay a small fee to claim their position as a member, and to help fund future shows and events. The fee will be from $5 – $10 depending on individual member’s ability to pay.
–
The show will run from July 26th to September 13th, with an opening reception from 2:30 – 4:00 on July 26. Details regarding drop-off details will be forwarded to artists who indicate they plan to participate by May 30th, 2014. You can email organizers at peakestreetstudios [arobas] gmail [point] com or private message us on facebook’s Peake Street page to indicate your participation.
–
This is my first time curating a show and I am honoured and excited to be a part of this. The Peake Street Obsessions show was one of my first forays into showing my art to the public and I encourage everyone to submit. I am sure co-organizers Sheri Inman and Dave Stewart agree that the challenges and triumphs of creating for the sake of creation cannot be measured.”

About The Call for Submissions
We are really excited to see your new work! Artists from around the world are invited to submit bodies of work, installations or individual pieces to the festival. Curators will draw from the submissions to create different exhibitions. Rather than having predetermined curatorial ideas, we are going to develop thematic shows entirely out of the work we receive. In Festival 2012 we curated using this process and it worked very successfully. Your artwork could potentially inspire an entire exhibition! Festival 2014 will be focused around Queen Elisabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. In addition to the beautiful gallery, we will also be using the display area, hall galleries, and lobby areas of the entire facility. We have considerably more hall space than last time. Festival 2014 will be in Oakville only and not in Toronto.

TPW R&D
Gallery TPW is a not-for-profit, artist-run centre dedicated to the presentation and critical investigation of contemporary still and time-based images, exploring the exchange between photography, film and video. Through a diverse program of exhibitions, screenings, performance, new critical writing and unique public programs, TPW is distinctive in expanding an awareness of the vital role that images play in contemporary culture. Committed to the development of a critical visual literacy, TPW programs have a strong investment in the creative potential of pedagogy, cross-disciplinary dialogue and engaged institutional collaboration.
Since the fall of 2012, Gallery TPW has occupied a temporary storefront while we work towards our goal of securing a sustainable long-term home. Our project space, branded as TPW R&D, is intended as a transitional and flexible space for shared research and the development of critical discourse. As a temporary research office, our focus is discursive programming — writing, screenings, discussions, workshops, and fluid exhibition and performance strategies — where we can think out loud about our methodologies for looking and showing as much as we continue to directly experience the force of images.
While we remain committed to the long-term project of the gallery as a space of productive, sustained engagement with images, during the R&D period we’ve taken the emphasis off the treadmill of exhibitions. Our intention is to broadly consider what « research » looks like, what its goals are, and how we can do it in and with a public.
We invite local and international artists, curators and thinkers to submit expressions of interest for working with us at TPW R&D. We’re particularly interested in proposals that bring together acts of showing with directed acts of critical and affective engagement, with material and ideas but also, importantly, with each other.
You can get a sense of how things have been shaped here: www.gallerytpw.ca/rd, but we’re certain you have new ideas about where to take TPW R&D next.
Send your ideas to our curator Kim Simon at proposals [arobas] gallerytpw [point] ca There’s no deadline, we’re happy to have this be an ongoing conversation while we’re in the R&D space. Just give us some time to get back to you.

Festival of Regions 2015 / Shift-Change
Slogging away in Ebensee
19–28 June 2015
Project submission deadline: 16 May 2014
Ebensee
Austria
The Festival of Regions scouts and conquers a region or town in Upper Austria every two years. Away from urban concentrations and cultural centres, a program with contemporary art and culture as an attractive option for the residents and a broad, curious public is shaped and communicated. Apart from regional, supraregional and international participation by art-makers, collaboration is sought with local associations, institutions and good individual forces to anchor the festival on location and to leave behind traces that are as distinct as possible.
Apart from reinforcing and furthering regional initiatives in the field of cultural work, sensitizing people to current artistic trends is one of the festival’s aims, with the aspects of communication, open dialogue and combining everyday culture with art. Above all, however, a great festival of arts is to be celebrated at which the components of focus on content, artistic substance, humour and cultural community enter into a liaison.
The festival venue, Ebensee
If you ask locals about the region’s identity, you soon get to hear that customs here are a bit rougher than elsewhere. In fact, ‘red’ Ebensee has a long tradition of resistance and a reputation of non-conformity and contrariness, but also of solidarity. The town was founded around 1607 as a workers’ settlement when salt production began; to the present day, the salt-works are the region’s major employer. The location on the southern shores of Traunsee is really idyllic, but it is impaired by the very busy road that cuts the town off from the lake’s shores. The existence of 99 associations indicates that communal cultural life is an important factor.

Heimatmuseum (local museum): www.museumebensee.at
Vereine (associations): www.ebensee.ooe.gv.at
Kulturverein Kino (Cinema Cultural Association): www.kino-ebensee.at
As usual with the Festival of Regions, public space serves as room for artistic action and a meeting place for hospitality and conviviality. For performances and installations, diverse interior spaces and industrial buildings in the town and environs are available. A few examples can be viewed through a photo tour on the Festival’s website, www.fdr.at.
Shift-change (Schichtwechsel) and slogging away (Hackeln)
These are the mottos for the Festival of Regions in Ebensee. In the vernacular, the term Hackeln means working hard, slogging away. The theme thus circles around all possible facets of working in their meaningful as well as absurd reflections and variations. Does the legendary workers’ culture still exist? Does the working class still exist as an hermetic stratum? Are there still such things as solidarity and sticking together? The Festival of Regions wants to immerse itself in the region, taking up social, urban, cultural themes and dealing with them in the form of artistic interventions. The festival temporarily takes on the cultural shift-work in the region and is looking forward to stimulating artistic work in an intensive, well-salted show of works.
Call for submissions
Project proposals from all artistic areas and genres are welcome. Projects for site-specific works will be given preference, or plans that generally engage with the theme of work or the social and cultural situation in Ebensee. Finished productions without any closer connection with the town or the given theme do not have good prospects.

The Kunst Kraft Werk is pleased to announce our first open call for exhibition proposals, for the 2015 program. Qualified candidates include international and local curators, corporate and cultural institutions, museums, individual artists, group initiatives, and collectives, working in all mediums, with a preference for interdisciplinary practice. Both contemporary and art historical exhibitions are welcomed. There is no set exhibition formula. The number, duration and spacing of the exhibitions are left to the discretion of the KKW, as the space is used for multiple purposes throughout the year. Our exhibition space and grounds are particularly well-suited for large scale sculpture, both outdoor and indoor, as well as installation, video projection, and performance. A module wall system allows for two-dimensional works to be shown as well, and for the interior space to be adjusted for each exhibition’s needs. Since our space is currently under renovation, it is important to state that our design objective is not a white cube, however our intention is to maintain the industrial aesthetic of the former gasworks, while encorporating a new lighting/heating/sound system, stage, storage area, restaurant, beer garden, and grill station. Please look at the photos on our website of the space in its current condition. Our architectural objective is to leave some of the large machines in place, while removing others. The roof will be replaced however the beams will be exposed, the windows will be opened, the floor leveled, and the walls sandblasted. The artwork shown in this space must be able to compete with the rough atmosphere or be complimented by it, rather than be swallowed into it.
There are two categories to submit your concepts. The exhibition program and the online journal ding an sich. The exhibition program is completely open thematically. We are especially interested in projects that are accompanied by a program of activities, artist’s talks, or lectures. If the entry is a group project, one person must be chosen from that group to represent it and act as a mediator. The selected projects will be required to sign a contract with the KKW, agreeing to respect all the obligations inherent to his/her function and especially the specific fullfilment of the project concept. The KKW will provide their exhibition space free of rental costs to the project, providing for the utility costs of the building; staffing during exhibition opening times; technical assistance for install and destall; professional graphic design, printing costs and advertisement/promotion of the exhibition and opening events; professional photographing of the exhibition; translation of texts into German; insurance of the artworks while in the KKW; administrative correspondence, support, and organization; and inclusion into the annual catalog. For the selected projects, depending on the necessities of his/her project and relation to the KKW, responsibilities may comprise of, among others: the selection and localization of the works; the supervision of the relations with the artists and loaners, and overseeing the production of works; the participation in writing press material and, where appropriate, the selection of activities surrounding the exhibition and the editorial direction of their project chapter in our annual catalog (writing at least one text in their native language and in English). On a project to project basis, chosen projects can anticipate financial responsibility for the expenses and organization of the insured transport of the works both to and from the KKW; all expenses incurred by the production of the works, artist’s fees, curator’s fees, author’s fees, and/or the operation costs of their home institution; travel and/or hotel expenses of the participants, visa application fees and customs fees. All work, unless indicated that it is not for sale (NFS), will be available for purchase during the exhibitions. The KKW will retain a commission on all artwork sold during the exhibition, and will provide a contract detailing the conditions/responsibilites of all parties.
When applying to the online journal ding an sich, applicants are open to submit original works by their authorship when still holding first right copyrights. Previously published works can be accepted depending upon the republishing agreements made by the author with previous publications both online and in print. The length limit of works is 3 pages, and must be written in German and/or English. A basic contractual agreement for web publication will be made between the KKW and the author. At this time we cannot provide for any writer’s fees. The first topic of discussion for the journal that we’d like to address is the building of a new cultural institution, pointing to the questions we now ask ourselves by opening the forum to the public. A range of contributions is sought, from case studies, research and curatorial papers, prose and auto-didactic essays. What does an ideal cultural institution look like in 2014, who does it really serve, what kind of social impact can it have, what utopic ideals should it strive for? To what level should it be involved in socio-political issues and ethics? So on and so forth.

Deadline to apply: April 25th, 2014
Sound Development City was initiated in 2012 by Sound Development with the aim of providing creative freedom to artists working in various disciplines. Every year in late summer, Sound Development City sends ten artists on a three-week-long expedition between two European cities. During the expedition, the artists work on individual projects, explore new cities, cultures, and different living environments, and establish new connections.
Sound Development City is made possible by Sound Development. Travel costs, daily expenses and budget required for materializing the individual projects are supplied. In addition, Sound Development City provides a stipend of 3,000 euros to all participants.
Summer expedition 2014: Riga—Helsinki
The expedition 2014 will explore the cities of Riga, Helsinki and the Baltic Sea area. We are looking for interventions, sound surveys, performances, experiments, and artistic research projects that will benefit from being on the road, and will probe urban environments as sites of both playfulness as well as social involvement. Riga and Helsinki serve as resonating urban spaces, as work material, sources of inspiration, and playground for public presentations. Sound Development City 2014 is seeking projects that engage with themeMind the Gap! in an independent and dedicated manner.
Artists working in all disciplines can apply through the open call process. The key requirements are curiosity, openness to experimentation, process-oriented work, and adventurousness. We also welcome an inter-disciplinary approach and readiness to collaborate.
The expedition format itself is meant both as practical instructions as well as metaphor. Sound Development City is a studio on the road, a research trip for artists and their projects.
An international jury of five will select about ten participants from the submitted applications. The jury’s decision will be made public no later than May 30.

OPEN CALL TO ARTISTS: Film & Video Performance
Deadline date: May 30, 2014; City: Cyprus, Greece; Source: Christina Georgiou
The call for entries opens on 1 March 2014.
The deadline of submissions is 30 May 2014.
Theme: “Site-specific”
Cyprus International Performance Art Festival (CIPAF), announces an Open Call to artists to submit film and video performances for the Screening Program of the festival. We are interested in works in the form of video and film that focus on site-specific performances created for the camera. The premiere screening of the selection will take place at the 2nd Cyprus International Performance Art Festival in Nicosia – Cyprus, after which the works will tour a number of
countries around the world.
The first Performance Screenings (2013) was a selection of video performances, films and video documentation of performances presented during the 1st Cyprus International Performance Art Festival, organized and produced by the Cyprus International Performance Art Society (CIPAS). The second Performance Screenings (2014) will be a selection of films and videos where live performance is created for the camera.
Performance art is frequently created to exist in a certain place, forming a specific context of time and space while creating several ephemeral moments. The artist uses his/her body to transmit an idea or to reveal an image, constructed through the relationship between himself/herself and the space or place. A site-specific performance can be collective, impulsive, unpredictable and evolving, where the artist and the viewer can be engaged within its environment. Therefore, through the presence of the artist, the existing space/place can be experienced in another way, while communicating other possibilities in understanding reality.
We are looking for video and film performances in which “site-specific” has an essential part, where public spaces, places and landscapes are selected in an effort to present or suggest the live and the ephemeral through video and film. The open call for the screenings selection of the 2nd Cyprus International Performance Art Festival is for recent video works (between 2010-2014). The duration of the video works is preferably 1–5 minutes and the maximum allowed duration of the videos is 12 minutes. Each submission must include the name of the artist, the title of the performance, the duration of the video, the place where the original performance took place and the date of its realization. Each artist/group can submit up to 2 works.
More info about submitting a work, here: www.cipafestival.com/?wp=open-call
The Cyprus International Performance Art Festival (CIPAF) is the first and only festival in Cyprus created for and dedicated exclusively to Performance Art. Every year this innovative performance art festival accommodates a number of performance artists from around the globe while presenting their work under a specific thematic.

Outcasting: Fourth Wall (O:4W) is the first artists’ moving image festival for Cardiff, Wales. O:4W aims to take artists’ moving image to a wider public through a number of different platforms, venues and opportunities both virtual and physical using traditional screenings, installations and site specific commissions.
In our inaugural festival we had over 500 international submissions for the screening programme and over 50 for the commissioning programme. This year we’re hoping for even more.
All artists selected will receive either a commission or a screening fee and there are no registration or submission costs for this event.
FAQ
Is there a limit on the budget for commissions?
The quick answer is yes we only have limited funds. Although when we did the first festival we kept the budget really fluid as we didn’t want to discourage artists from applying because of a set figure. Generally though we had budgets ranging from £500 to £3,000 but could go higher. It all depends on the quality of proposals as a whole. Shifting and fluid and malleable in order to get the best.
Bottom line is put what you think is reasonable and we’ll try to take it further if the idea is sound.
The festival is funded by the Arts Council of Wales Festivals fund, with support from Cardiff Council. The festival will be curated by Michael Cousin (Outcasting).
If you are interested in a commission for new site-specific work please send a brief (200 words max) outline of your practice with an additional commissioning proposal (500 words max) plus an outline budget (including a fee for the artist). The commissioning process will be based on a dialogue between the artist, the programmers and the venues. If you have an idea we will try to find a suitable space for it.with up to 5 jpegs and / or a link to your work online. If the work is only available as a data file and not online please send using the Outcasting WeTransfer (outcasting.wetransfer.com/) account. All submissions are by email only to michael [arobas] 4wfilm [point] org (1er mai)

SPACE RESIDENCIES 2014: OPEN CALL
Applications are now open for five residencies for emerging artists and creative technologists working at the intersections of art, technology and sustainability. SPACE invites applications for residencies in the dedicated open-plan residency studio at the White Building, Hackney Wick.
INFRA_SPECTION
Thematic: #stacktivism is a term that attempts to give form to a critical conversation and line of enquiry around infrastructures and the relationship we have to them. #stacktivism has recently attracted a great deal of debate and interest and is an ongoing, and increasingly popular subject of interrogation for theorists, economists and creative practitioners alike. As the digital divide and post‐internet discourses lose traction and diversify, artists and creative technologists are faced with a new set of trending critical dialogues in the face of the morphing technological landscape. The INFRA_SPECTION residency acknowledges this shift, and the participating artists are invited to enter into a dialogue with the rapidly evolving perspectives of #stacktivism as a catalyst for their practice.
This cycle of The White Building residencies seek to question emergent behaviors and formulate ways to articulate the changes taking place “from here to there”. The residencies will generate a programme of events and critical debate around how creative practices are positioned within our contemporary convergence culture. INFRA_SPECTION will also raise questions about the terms of engagement artists and creative technologists are working with in their techno-political landscape and beyond.
Deadline: Friday 25th April 5pm (GMT)

Earls « Tin Palace » is a long term resident of the vibrant creative 4th Street / Mission District of Calgary, which was hard hit with the June 2013 flood. Completely immersed in water for weeks the businesses and residents of the area were displaced for some time and the extensive rebuilding of the area is still ongoing. After its own extensive restoration and renovation post-flood, Earls Kitchen + Bar is very excited to announce it is reopening on February 25th, 2014. Alongside the opening, Earls would like to present a competition to source a sculptural form that will not only beautify the exterior but add to the renewed energy of the area, setting a sensational new precedent for public art in the 4th Street / Mission area.
Already home to a number of public artworks, 4th Street, an iconic neighbourhood in the Beltline, has long been a destination area in the city for great restaurants, cafes and shops. As part of the history and ongoing presence on 4th street, Earls Tin Palace has been a keystone resident of 4th Street for 25 years. Rebuilt and revitalized, Earls is excited to showcase a strong new direction – reshaping and evolving its dedication and commitment to the community through the gift of a public sculpture to celebrate the tenacity and spirit of those who endured the floods.
The chosen sculpture will occupy the generous front plaza in front of the restaurant. This is a prominent triangular space visible from both the busy foot and car traffic of 4th Street and 24th Avenue SW. Although this is the private land of Earls – it is absolutely intended to be enjoyed by both the public and by guests dining at the restaurant.
The selected artwork will bring a sense of neighborhood pride & assumed unity to the corner as well be considered as a landmark destination. This gift from Earls to the Calgary community should emulate strength and transcend imagination, spark dialogue and embrace attitude.
In addition to the $50,000 CAD budget the winning commission will receive a $10,000 CAD grand prize. The sculpture will occupy an area that formerly was home to a fountain, which has since been removed. Electrical can be provided to illuminate the chosen form.
Budget
The total project budget for this artwork commission will be $50,000 CAD. If submitting more than one proposal, Artists must complete and submit individual submission packages for each concept proposal. The budget will include (but is not limited to): artist fees, design, permitting as needed, engineering fees, fabrication, installation, photography, insurance and all taxes. Travel to Calgary and/or accommodation is at the artist’s expense. The winner will have travel expenses paid for the unveiling ceremony.
