L’Écart est un centre d’artistes autogéré en art actuel qui diffuse toutes les disciplines du champ élargi des arts visuels. Situé en Abitibi-Témiscamingue, le centre soutient l’interdisciplinarité, les pratiques novatrices, l’expérimentation, la prise de risque et la collaboration.
L’Écart invite les artistes, les commissaires, les chercheurs, les auteurs et les collectifs à soumettre un projet d’exposition, de résidence, de conférence, d’atelier, de projection, de commissariat, de performance ou d’évènement spécifique pour sa programmation 2019-2020.

Conditions d’accueil :
Droits d’exposition = 2000 $

PROGRAMME DE RÉSIDENCES
Le programme de résidence de L’Écart se divise en trois volets : LA TOTALE, RECHERCHE et RESSOURCEMENT À LA CARTE. Les artistes en résidence bénéficient d’un appartement 3 et demi situé au-dessus du centre et disposent d’une autonomie de vie complète à proximité de l’espace d’atelier.

Un salon avec divan-lit
Une chambre à coucher avec lit double
Une salle de bain privée
Une buanderie commune avec laveuse/sécheuse payantes est disponible à l’étage
Stationnement et wifi gratuit
VOLET 1 – LA TOTALE (résidence + exposition)
Séjour de 10 à 31 jours. L’artiste est invité à créer une nouvelle œuvre in situ, à travailler un nouveau volet d’une exposition déjà produite, à développer un projet de collaboration ou à présenter une exposition nécessitant une longue période de montage.

Situé à 235 km au nord de Montréal dans la MRC d’Antoine-Labelle, au confluent de l’Abitibi et de l’Outaouais, le Centre offre une vitrine exceptionnelle aux artistes régionaux et de l’extérieur.
LA MISSION Le Centre d’exposition de Mont-Laurier a pour mission d’être un lieu de diffusion en arts visuels et en métiers d’art dans les Hautes-Laurentides. Il est un endroit de découverte, d’éducation et de rencontres pour une clientèle étudiante, artistique, touristique et amatrice d’art.

Saison d’exposition 2020
L’École d’art d’Ottawa (ÉAO) accepte dès maintenant les soumissions de projets d’exposition pour la saison d’exposition 2020. Les œuvres en cours ou envisagées peuvent être soumises tant pour la galerie du campus du marché By que pour la galerie du campus d’Orléans. L’appel est ouvert à tous les artistes; toutes les techniques artistiques sont admissibles. Les projets d’exposition collective sont aussi acceptés.
Les soumissions peuvent être effectuées pour la galerie du campus du marché By, pour celle du campus d’Orléans ou pour les deux galeries. Les candidats qui seront sélectionnés devront cependant choisir de présenter leur exposition à une seule des deux galeries. Dans le cas d’une soumission aux deux campus, vous devez aussi indiquer de quelle façon votre exposition s’adaptera aux dimensions distinctes des deux espaces de galerie.

Les soumissions doivent inclure les informations suivantes afin d’être considérées :

Le projet d’exposition
La démarche artistique pour l’exposition
Un Curriculum Vitae à jour (propositions de groupe : CV pour chaque artiste)
Un total de 10 images numériques ou vidéo du travail complété au cours des deux dernières années
Note : L’image d’une œuvre et l’image d’un détail de cette même œuvre compteront pour deux images. Chaque vidéo compte pour une image. La durée totale d’une vidéo par proposition ne doit pas excéder 15 minutes. Veuillez soumettre des images en format JPG uniquement, 300 ppp, pas plus volumineuses que 2 Mo chacune; format maximal RVB de 1240 pixels (longueur ou largeur). Soumettre des vidéos dans les formats suivants uniquement : AVI, FLV, WMV, MOV, MP4, pas plus de 500 Mo chacun.
Une liste de toutes les images/vidéos dans les formats suivants :
Un chiffre précédé d’un « 0 » (ex. : 01), vos initiales, l’année à laquelle votre œuvre ou vidéo a été complétée et le titre de votre image ou vidéo
(ex. : 01CB2019lumieresurleau.jpg). Assurez-vous que le nombre « 10 » précède la dernière image. Assurez-vous aussi que votre liste correspond à l’ordre dans lequel sont placées vos images/vidéos.
Note : Des sources d’images externes ou des liens vers des vidéos ne seront pas acceptés (ex. : YouTube, Vimo, etc.).
N’ajoutez aucun caractère, symbole, point, guillemet, etc. (tels #. « &, etc.) au nom des fichiers. Ne soumettez pas de fichiers à travers un logiciel de présentation (ex. : PowerPoint).
Il est de votre responsabilité de vous assurer que le matériel de la soumission est transmis dans un format lisible.
Les propositions mal organisées ne seront pas considérées.
Les propositions qui n’adhéreront pas aux critères énoncés ci-dessus seront considérées comme incomplètes et seront retirées du processus de sélection sans préavis.
Processus de sélection :
Un jury formé de trois professionnels du domaine artistique basera ses choix en fonction de la qualité du travail, de l’intégrité de l’ensemble du projet et du lien de celui-ci avec les programmes de l’ÉAO.
Les membres du jury se rencontreront au cours des quatre semaines suivant la date limite de soumission.
Les artistes dont les soumissions auront été révisées par le jury seront informés de la décision du jury au cours des deux semaines suivant la rencontre du jury.
Conditions de l’exposition :
L’artiste recevra (ou les artistes recevront) un cachet d’exposition selon le tarif fixé par CARFAC.
Les artistes sélectionnés assumeront la responsabilité du transport des œuvres et veilleront à se procurer une assurance transport à destination et en provenance de l’ÉAO.
Pour toutes les œuvres tridimensionnelles, vidéo ou médiatiques sélectionnées qui exigent des équipements spéciaux pour l’installation, il est de la responsabilité de l’artiste de fournir l’équipement nécessaire.

Le Réseau des arts d’Ottawa est heureux de lancer un APPEL DE PROPOSITIONS pour l’édition 2019-2020 de son programme communautaire d’artiste en résidence : L’Art des quartiers d’Ottawa, financé par la Fondation Trillium de l’Ontario et la Fondation Communautaire d’Ottawa. Ce programme donnera l’occasion à des artistes professionnels de travailler directement avec des membres de la collectivité à la réalisation de projets artistiques, et d’encadrer des artistes émergents.
QUI RECHERCHONS-NOUS?
Des groupes artistiques ou des artistes professionnels de toute discipline ayant de l’expérience dans l’art axé sur la communauté, qui sont également capable et veulent jouer le rôle de mentor/partager des connaissances auprès des artistes émergents de la collectivité.

Le Conseil des arts de l’Ontario définit les pratiques artistiques axées sur la communauté comme des « formes d’expression artistique collective. LA MINUTE VIDÉO FOLIE/CULTURE
Invitation à participer
Folie/Culture propose à tous les artistes professionnels ou amateurs, membres, proches et intervenants du milieu social de s’investir dans une expérience de réflexion particulière : réaliser une vidéo d’une durée d’une minute produite sur le thème Marchez sur des œufs!
Marchez sur des œufs ! est une injonction insupportable, puisqu’elle commande l’immobilité. Folie/Culture entend explorer la nouvelle censure d’une humanité qui a peur d’elle-même. Où il faut désormais râper les rugosités, adoucir la confrontation, condamner a priori, engloutir les zones sombres de l’Homo sapiens dans des abysses encore plus obscurs.
Marchez sur des œufs ! est une interdiction d’exister pour tous ceux dont la tâche consiste à façonner, à tâtons, le devenir humain de cette bête insaisissable. Il n’y a dès lors plus de création pour les créateurs, plus de guérison pour les malades. Comme une contention, cette marche forcée abolit tout devenir-autre. Imaginons cette situation pour ceux qui naviguent dans les tourments d’une santé mentale vacillante.
Lorsque l’absurde engloutit le sens commun, il est temps de sortir l’ironie, l’humour et la dérision. Et nous allons casser des œufs pour concocter la plus décapante des omelettes.

Le Centre de diffusion Presse Papier recherche des artistes ou des groupes d’artistes dont la production et la recherche en art actuel se manifestent par l’utilisation de l’estampe, en tout ou en partie, dans l’élaboration de leur œuvre. Le Centre de diffusion est aussi ouvert aux propositions de commissaires qui voudraient présenter des projets qui tournent autour de l’estampe, de son développement et de son utilisation comme moyen d’expression actuel.
Une attention particulière sera portée aux dossiers qui feront état d’une recherche de nouvelles formes d’utilisation de l’estampe. Cette recherche peut revêtir plusieurs aspects :
L’actualité des sujets de recherche
L’œuvre installative utilisant l’estampe
L’hybridité des moyens d’expression
La recherche sur les techniques de l’estampe
Le mélange des techniques
Les nouvelles avenues du livre d’artiste
L’estampe comme moyen d’expression social
Le questionnement sur l’identité de l’estampe
Tous les candidats doivent soumettre un dossier de présentation pour voir leur proposition présentée au jury. Un dossier incomplet pourra nuire à l’évaluation de la demande.
Le dossier de présentation doit inclure :
Un projet d’exposition (résumé en 400 mots ou moins)
Un curriculum vitae (5 pages maximum) ou une présentation du groupe
Un dossier de presse (5 pages maximum) facultatif
De 10 à 15 reproductions numériques des œuvres (format JPG, maximum 1000 pixels de haut et/ou de large ; maximum 100 dpi)
Veuillez noter que les artistes choisis doivent attendre un minimum de 5 ans avant de refaire une demande d’exposition.
Les documents proposés n’ont pas obligatoirement à montrer les œuvres à exposer. Ils doivent cependant être le reflet assez juste de la direction que l’artiste entend donner à la présentation qu’il fera au Centre de diffusion.
Les documents peuvent être envoyés par la poste ou par courrier électronique.

OPTICA présente annuellement un programme varié d’expositions, de conférences et de rencontres avec les artistes et s’investit dans la production de commissariats d’expositions en relation avec les thématiques développées par le centre. L’ensemble de ces programmes propose une réflexion critique sur l’actualité de l’art, soutenue par une activité éditoriale.
Le centre comporte deux espaces d’exposition et offre une aide technique professionnelle en galerie. Les artistes et les commissaires sont invités à déposer des projets pour la programmation régulière en galerie. La nature des projets est soumise au comité de programmation qui recommande leur réalisation.
OPTICA verse des droits d’exposition aux artistes et aux commissaires selon les barèmes recommandés par le RAAV et CARFAC.

Juried Call for Proposals: Professional Guest Artists
Art City invites North American based artists to submit proposals to lead art
workshops at our Winnipeg studio in 2019/20.
Eligibility
The Professional Guest Artist Series is designed for contemporary artists to share
their practices in a community context. It is a collaborative process with a high level
of engagement by participants of all ages, so workshop content must be appropriate
for youth participation.
The majority of Art City participants are from Indigenous and Newcomer
backgrounds. Artists and knowledge keepers that self-identify with these groups are
strongly encouraged to apply.
Artists must have a demonstrated proficiency in the medium the proposed workshop
is based on or must communicate technical support requirements. (i.e. If proposing a
video workshop, the artist must know how to use video equipment and editing
software or communicate their need for technical support.)
Selection Process
A Jury of Art City staff, Board, and past guest artists select proposals.
Art City also seeks input from our Youth Council, a group of young Art City
participants.
All artists will be contacted after the jury has deliberated. Please allow for a period of
6 to 8 weeks after the submission deadline to hear back about the status of your
proposal.
Fees/Expenses
Selected guest artists will receive artist fees of $2,140 for a five-day workshop.
Travel, accommodations, and a $40/day per diem will be provided artists outside of
Winnipeg.
Selected guest artists will be required to obtain a Criminal Record Check and Child
Abuse Registry Check, or the equivalent in the jurisdiction in which the artist is
based, the cost of which is eligible for reimbursement by Art City.
While proposals from pairs or groups of artists will be considered, please note that
no additional artist fees are available (i.e. artists must share fees).

a discussion on the future of community and environment

Many cities, countries, and peoples, are tied together by water – by our shared experience, memory, and use of it. Cambridge Art Galleries and BRIDGE invite our local communities to contribute to this major collaborative project of community art, events, and conversations about our common waters. Common Waters will consist of a diversity of outlooks and opinions that discuss the future of community and our relationship to water.
Common Waters, the theme for this project, addresses our relationship with each other and our environment. In our increasingly divided world, we have a responsibility to actively engage with our community at home and abroad to strengthen human solidarity. From the connective banks of the Grand River to the oceans we share, we must look to each other for compassion and empathy as our identities evolve in our global world. The treaty land we live on is a chance for us to come together as a community, creating provocative conversations about how we can work together, make, learn, understand and look for solutions to the problems facing all of us in our shared world today.
Common Waters is a platform for us all to discuss the future we want, and to connect with each other through these discussions. Focused on water, these discussions are a way to talk about ways we connect in both a local and wider context.
We want to hear your voices and see your proposal for a piece of this collaborative initiative: local community members, traditional knowledge keepers, artists, designers, scientists. We are looking for submissions that challenge the boundaries of traditional exhibitions and look beyond, to new ways of thinking and talking with each other about our world and water. This may include installations, performances, conversations, workshops, art pieces, gatherings, activities, and anything else. If you have an idea, or something to say, propose it! Be ambitious, be creative, be limitless.
Guided by BRIDGE Centre for Architecture and Cambridge Art Galleries, Common Waters is looking to both the local and the wider community for ideas, enriching the discussions and focusing the series on relevant issues. Using the Design at Riverside Gallery, the BRIDGE Storefront on Main Street, and the streets of Galt, Common Waters has the potential to engage and inspire a range of community members and participants. Happening between June 17 and September 22, this activation extends past our local community, sparking discussions and a new understanding of our shared waters and our agency in the world. Common Waters is a catalyst; the first of many events that will question the nature of community and our relationship with our communal world.

CAFKA.20: CALL FOR PORTFOLIOS
CAFKA – Contemporary Art Forum Kitchener and Area invites contemporary artists working in the public space to apply to the CAFKA.20: Call for Portfolios. The CAFKA biennial exhibition is open to Canadian and international artists. Deadline for submissions is midnight, March 1, 2019.
Looking to streamline the assessment process, CAFKA is announcing that for the 2020 biennial it will limit its Open Call consideration to artist portfolios only. Artists applying to the CAFKA.20: Call for Portfolios will no longer be required to submit detailed proposals. Following the committee’s deliberations, selected artists will be contacted and asked to propose detailed projects.
The CAFKA biennial exhibition of contemporary art in public spaces initiates conversations around public space and the social and critical functions of art. It galvanizes the community of artists and contemporary art lovers in the Waterloo Region who dedicate countless volunteer hours in support of the exhibition. Since its inception in 2001, CAFKA has produced five annual exhibitions, six biennial exhibitions, and four special projects. Over the past 17 years CAFKA has produced and exhibited 229 projects by 209 artists from across Canada and around the world.
In 2007 CAFKA supplemented its Open Call with an invitational component, where artists identified by the Program Committee are also invited to participate in the exhibition. The final exhibition line-up is comprised of both invited artists and artists selected from the Open Call.

AKA supports the creation and development of artist driven initiatives and emerging practices that speak to, reflect and encourage dialogue in our culturally diverse communities. This includes work in all media by local, national and international artists. Our venues consist of a street-level gallery, billboard and multi-use screening and performance event space; we also source off-site locations for site-specific projects.
AKA accepts submissions on an ongoing basis for project/exhibition proposals that consider AKA’s history and setting.
Support for selected projects/exhibitions includes: curatorial assistance, shipping, insurance, installation/strike assistance, promotion, documentation and the potential development of accompanying programming suited to the form of the project. Southern Alberta Art Gallery (SAAG) Submission Guidelines
Exhibition proposals are accepted throughout the year and reviews are ongoing. Selection is carried out over a period of time through studio visits and correspondence with artists and curators in whom the gallery has an interest. Those interested in proposing their work to SAAG are asked to include with their submission: a curriculum vitae, an artist statement and/or letter of intent, a wide selection of images, and other relevant support material. The gallery will not return your submission – please do not send original artworks or valuable materials. Given the large number of submissions received by the gallery, formal letters of reply will only be issued to proposals of immediate interest.
Exhibitions are generally six weeks in length. An opening is held to introduce the work to the public. Artists are also invited to give an illustrated lecture on their work in conjunction with the University of Lethbridge Faculty of Fine Art during the academic year. Other special events (workshops, panel discussions, etc.) are considered on a case-by-case basis.
The Southern Alberta Art Gallery pays CARFAC fees, shipping and insurance, and often seeks funding to produce catalogues for the exhibition. All publications, including our quarterly newsletter GALLERY (which discusses and reproduces work by exhibiting artists along with other programming), are exchanged with other institutions in Canada and abroad.

STARTS Prize of the European Commission: Submissions accepted until March 1st 2019
20,000 euros will again await the winners of the STARTS Prize 2019. Innovative collaborations and projects at the interface of science, technology and art can be submitted until March 1st. The worldwide Open Call is part of the STARTS Initiative of the European Commission and is issued by Ars Electronica, BOZAR and Waag.
Winners can look forward to prize money of 20,000 euros
This is an open call for entries in conjunction with an initiative launched by the European Commission: STARTS. The name stands for innovation at the nexus of Science, Technology and the ARTS.
Two prizes – € 20,000 each – will be bestowed this year:

One for artistic exploration and artworks where appropriation by the arts has a strong potential to influence or alter the use, development, or perception of technology
•
One for innovative collaboration between industry or technology and the arts that opens new pathways for innovation.
This competition specifically seeks:

Trailblazing forms of collaboration and projects essentially characterized by both technology and art; strictly artistically or strictly technologically oriented projects are not what STARTS is looking for.

Any and all artistic works and practices having to do with innovation in the areas of technology, business and/or society. This competition is not limited to a particular genre such as media art and digital art.

All forms of technological and scientific research that are inspired by art or in which artists are integrated as catalysts of new ways of seeing things. This includes but is not limited to information & communications technology.

Artists or artists’ collectives, creative professionals, researchers and companies throughout the world. This competition is not limited to citizens of EU-member states.

Zebrastraat
During the last few years, Zebrastraat Ghent has developed into a stimulating knowledge centre with a strong interest in art. Every two years we organize a biennial called update_, and the New Technological Art Award (NTAA) contest, which tries to fill in a gap in the mainstream art world, by paying attention to the technological developments that drive our global culture.
NTAA selects and presents creations in which the culture-forming role of technology occupies a central place. Low or high tech, intuitive or experimental, the creations always draw our attention to actual innovative trends. The exhibition of achievements of the selected winners is a compass that orients you to the relevant temporal and resilient use of technology in the artistic sector.
The mision of NTAA
NTAA’s mission is to expand the scope of temporary artistic creations and traditional media with works using contemporary and new technologies in an original and intelligent way: treatment of sounds and light, use of new media, application of innovative evolutions in communications, telecommunications and broadcasting, centered on the world of information, communication, and computers and interaction. These descriptions are in no way restrictive and should be interpreted in the broadest way possible.
General guidelines for entry in the NTAA competition
The aim of the competition is to present works in accordance with NTAA’s mission. The submitted work may have been exhibited previously, but the jury reserves the right to exclude creations that turn out to be not realizable within the limits of the practical possibilities of the Liedts-Meesen Foundation, keeping in mind that the works will be displayed during the exhibition. The basic equipment is available and at the disposal of the selected artists; specific and special equipment must be provided for and lent by the artists for the duration of the exhibition.
This international competition is open to all age groups and to all nationalities. Artists can present their candidacy for one art work less than two years old at the time of its submission, but which may already have been exhibited. English is the working language.
There is no artist fee. Free accommodation for the artists is available at Zebrastraat.
The 20 projects selected by the jury will be rendered public at the website in June 2019.
Prize
A cash award of 5,000 EUR will be allocated to a work and its creator. Moreover, the jury reserves the right to award an honorable mention to an artist. The Liedts-Meesen Foundation and the jury reserve the right to not award the prize and to transfer it to the next exhibition. There will also be a public prize and a prize of the European Commission. The winners will be announced at the final day of the exhibition.

The Bentway Conservancy is thrilled to announce its inaugural Artist Residency program. The inaugural artist residency will focus on the acoustic environment of The Bentway. The hum of the Gardiner above, the rush of passing trains to the north, the occasional cannon blasts from the Fort York grounds and the general buzz from the surrounding city make The Bentway site rich acoustic territory. The selected artist or collective will be asked to explore The Bentway as an instrument, and to experiment with the varied sonic environments along its length.
The residency aims to expand the way we think about the sounds that shape our creative experience in the city, the parameters defining sound art and the types of projects contributing to the discipline.
The selected artist will be provided with a monthly stipend and support from NAISA (New Adventures in Sound Art). Applicants don’t need a background in sound art to be considered.

Appel à résidences La Box 2019-2020
Chaque année depuis 1991, l’École nationale supérieure d’art de Bourges reçoit de jeunes artistes en résidence, avec le soutien financier de la Direction Régionale des Affaires Culturelles et du Conseil Régional du Centre-Val de Loire.
Ces résidences ont pour but de permettre à de jeunes artistes français ou étrangers de réaliser un projet de recherche personnelle en lien avec l’école, ses enseignements, ses étudiants ou tout autre partenaire extérieur. Les candidatures sont sélectionnées par un jury composé d’un représentant de la Direction Régionale des Affaires Culturelles du Centre, du Conseil Régional Centre-Val de Loire, du Fonds Régional d’Art Contemporain Centre, de trois enseignants de l’école, du directeur de l’école, de l’équipe de La Box et d’une personnalité du monde de l’art.

Compass Live Art: Artist Residencies 2019 Open Call
Compass Live Art invites residency proposals from artists working in any medium whose practice is based in public engagement – artists who are interested in collaborating with the public to make work.
Selected artists will be invited to Leeds in 2019 to develop ideas over 2-3 weeks through a mixture of studio time and public facing activity.
Projects may be inspired by a particular theme, idea or inquiry or a particular place or community. They must hold the public at their heart and require interaction and engagement to complete or animate them.
These residencies will be run with a view to possible commissioning of new artist projects for presentation in Compass Festival 2020.
We envisage supporting two artists’ residencies, one for a UK based artist and one for an international artist through support from Leeds 2023.

Imago Inc. est un centre d’artistes autogéré de production en estampe.
Le mandat de l’atelier Imago est de promouvoir et diffuser la création artistique dans le domaine de l’estampe contemporaine. Fondé en 1986 et incorporé en 1992, par 11 artistes du sud-est du Nouveau-Brunswick, le centre offre un lieu de recherche à ses membres et un atelier fonctionnel aux artistes.
L’atelier d’estampe Imago Inc. est à la recherche d’artistespourtravailler dans son atelier pendant une période de 2 à 3 semaines. La résidence doit avoir lieu entre septembre et avril.
Imago prend en charge les frais de transport, l’hébergement et offre un cachet d’artiste de 500$ par semaine.

The Richmond Public Art Program seeks an artist or artist team to create a mural for the
exterior fascia and structural columns of the Richmond Cultural Centre, located at 7700
Minoru Gate. Artists with demonstrated experience and skill sets working with multiple
project stakeholders and executing outdoor murals are encouraged to apply. A two-
stage artist selection process will be implemented for this commission. Shortlisted artists
will be invited to outline a public engagement process to develop a design concept

The City of Toronto is seeking submissions for StreetARToronto’s Partnership Program. The application is open to individual Artists, Artist Collectives, and not-for-profit or charitable organizations operating in the city of Toronto.
This project is being implemented by StreetARToronto (StART), part of the Public Realm Section of the City of Toronto’s Transportation Services Division.
Background:
StART Partnership Program is designed to encourage active transportation (walking and cycling), make our streets more inviting and safe, showcase local artists, mentor emerging talent, reduce overall infrastructure maintenance costs and create opportunities for positive engagement among residents, business owners and operators, artists and arts organizations.
StART provides up to $50,000 in funding for partnership projects that support program objectives. StART strives to support a diverse range of artists and organizations, increase mentorship opportunities through street art installations, develop the talents of local emerging artists and expand the variety and scope of projects supported every year.
All proposed projects and their related activities must be located within the City of Toronto with maximum street visibility and neighbourhood impact. Written authorization from the property owner is required at the time of application.
Projects must demonstrate a strong community engagement component. StART requires applicants to host public consultations or events to inform the community about their projects and obtain feedback. Mentorship or training opportunities for youth or emerging artists are encouraged.
Submissions are evaluated by a jury using a consistent set of assessment criteria.

Request for Expressions of Interest

Budget: $90, 000 CAD (maximum)
The Town of Oakville invites artists to submit Expressions of Interest (EOI) to create a permanent indoor public artwork for the galleria of the Southeast Community Centre. The successful artist will have their work featured at the north entrance of the new facility.
Professional Canadian artists and artist-led teams are invited to submit Expressions of Interest (EOI) by March 1, 2019.
An artwork proposal is not required at this time. This is a two-stage process.
During stage one of the competition, applicants will be reviewed on the basis of the merit of past work, professional qualifications and experience. Refer to submission details in the EOI document. In stage two shortlisted artists will be required to submit an artwork concept proposal and model. Short listed artists will be paid an artist fee of $1500 to develop their proposals. The selected artist will then enter a contract with the Town of Oakville for the artwork creation and installation phase of the project. The successful artist will have a maximum budget of $90,000 to create the artwork.
The public art concept will be selected by a specially-convened independent committee made up of visual arts professionals, community representatives and town staff. The project will be awarded in June 2019, installed during the summer of 2020 and unveiled when the Southeast Community Centre opens to the public in September 2020.
The Town of Oakville is redeveloping the former Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH) lands that will see a new community centre, neighbourhood park, future residential area and seniors-oriented housing block to meet the needs of Oakville residents. The project is being rolled out in phases with the building of the Southeast Community Centre (SECC) and neighbourhood park as a first priority. The anticipated opening date of the SECC and park is Fall 2020.
The SECC will have a contemporary building design that respects the heritage character of the surrounding neighbourhood as well the designated high school. It will include a 25-metre lap pool, a warm water pool, a double gymnasium, a fitness centre with a running track, multipurpose meeting rooms and space for intergenerational programming.

Eyelevel is currently seeking applications from creative and highly motivated individuals for the position of Artistic Director. The successful candidate will be a hardworking and dedicated individual with the skill and energy required to steward Eyelevel. They will be able to meet the projected goals of the artist-run centre’s current collective vision and to help direct the next chapter of this venerable, relevant, and engaging voice in Nova Scotia’s artistic community.
Eyelevel is a not-for-profit charitable organization programming primarily in K’jiputuk (Halifax, Nova Scotia) a city situated on unceded Mi’kmaq territory. Through a range of programming initiatives such as exhibitions, performances, and special projects, Eyelevel has established itself as a supportive environment that fosters the research and development of innovative artistic practices. We have provided a forum for the presentation, and discussion of contemporary visual art in Halifax for 43 years.
POSITION SUMMARY

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Artistic Director at Eyelevel is responsible for the day to day operation and management of the artist-run centre. With support from the Board of Directors, volunteers, and contract staff, the Artistic Director is responsible for developing and executing programming that supports Eyelevels mandate and artistic vision. This role is highly self-directed, requiring the ability to prioritize and delegate tasks effectively.
Artistic & Programming:
planning, organizing, and animating all artistic projects, including exhibitions, artist talks, readings, workshops, and special events
articulating and implementing an artistic vision for the organization that responds to Eyelevel’s position locally and nationally.
Management & Administration
writing grants and external funding applications; preparing final reports for funders;
coordinating volunteers and supervising contract and project-specific staff;
Providing consultation on hiring decisions for contract staff and summer students;
Preparing contracts for artists, space/studio rental, or contract employees;
Maintaining and managing the office space, bookstore, studio and storage spaces;

Attending monthly board and committee meetings;

working with the Board and Engagement Committee to coordinate fundraising activities and cultivating financial support through donations;
working with the Engagement Committee to strengthen our presence in the community and develop strategies for membership engagement;

working with the Programming Committee to provide assistance to exhibiting artists as required;
working with the Programming Committee to coordinate regular exhibition jury/proposal review;

working with the Board to address systemic areas of exclusion in the organization.
As an artist-run centre, we benefit greatly from the creative practices of our staff and Board. The Artistic Director is encouraged to develop curatorial projects and pursue professional development opportunities, including their own artistic practice. We recognize that this can be difficult in such active employment, but the Board is committed to supporting the Artistic Director in finding this balance.

Role Description
The C Magazine Editorial Fellowship provides a supportive context for professional development over a ten-month period, and the unique opportunity to contribute significantly to an established independent contemporary art publication in Canada. Working closely with the C Magazine Editor to realize the magazine’s artistic mandate and editorial goals, the Editorial Fellow delivers their individual perspective through a thematic program that sits somewhere between the artist-led and the institutional. The Fellow researches and develops, commissions and edits a series of feature texts across three consecutive issues of the publication, building on C’s strong reputation for smart, imaginative and challenging content on and around contemporary art and criticism. In addition to their editorial contributions, the Fellow programs a discursive event related to some aspect of their thematic content.
For 35 years, C Magazine has introduced diverse, emerging artists and writers and often overlooked art practices to a national and international audience. C Magazine aims to educate and provide an important forum for discussion of the social, political, and historical forces at play within our cultural environment and current visual arts practices. Responding to the challenges and requirements of a small, independent organization, the Editorial Fellow supports these goals and contributes purposefully to C’s publishing program, its growth and its long-term vision, while furthering its legacy and mission. The Fellow reports to the Editor and is responsible to the authority of the Board of Directors of C The Visual Arts Foundation.
Structure
The Editorial Fellowship is comprised of research, commissioning and editing periods, during which the successful applicant is in regular conversation with the editor of C Magazine. The Fellow works closely with the editorial team to deliver the series of texts and any additional activities and attends monthly all-staff meetings and quarterly meetings of the Editorial Advisory Committee, in person or remotely. The Fellow is supported and complemented by the magazine’s leadership team of Editor and Executive Director/Publisher, and together they ensure an influx of diverse new voices and consistency in the delivery of content and educational programs.
Responsibilities
Editorial Program
To work closely with the Editor to ensure that C Magazine realizes its mandate and editorial goals, and to contribute to their further development.
To develop the theme and ‘Call for Proposals’ for each issue, with final approval of the Editor.
To research and commission feature articles for 3 issues of C Magazine (~10,000 words, with more than half being Canadian content), corresponding with contributors to solicit and develop texts, set fees, and do so in adherence to specified timelines, budgets and editorial structures.
To update records pertaining to each commissioned article, including fees, potential copyright expenses and first draft deadlines as soon as an assignment has been confirmed.
To write the Editorial note.
To prepare received texts for publication, providing writers with substantive edits that suggest cuts for length, sequencing and consistency of editorial style and voice.
To ensure final texts are delivered on budget and to a high standard.
To proofread the magazine galley.
To attend quarterly Editorial Advisory Committee meeting to discuss upcoming themes and commissions.
To execute one program in relation to the theme or content of their issues, at a point of their choosing during the Fellowship, budget permitting.
Fundraising
To assist with applying for funding for events related to their editorial program.
To support and help develop community partnerships.
Marketing and Audience Development
To build the magazine’s network of contributors.
To support and develop the national and international profile of the magazine
To work with the Publisher to nurture C’s local, national and International audiences and partnerships and forge new ones.
To contribute marketing texts related to each issue of C Magazine as needed.
Public Representation
To promote C Magazine at a national and international level, acting as an ambassador for the organization.

Qualifications
Education and Experience
Master’s degree in art history or critical and curatorial studies, or closely related studies; or equivalent qualifications, education and experience relevant to the role.
Minimum 5 years of experience in writing and editing, directly related to contemporary visual art and related practices.
Experience commissioning and editing contemporary art writing for publication.
Experience with working collaboratively and responsibly as part of a creative team.
Experience with developing productive working relationships with artists, writers and art world peers.
Experience, an established presence and well-developed professional networks in the Canadian art community.
Established presence in the international art community, with well-developed networks.
Required Skills and Knowledge
Superior writing and substantive editing skills.
Demonstrable ability in assessing texts submitted for publication in a contemporary art context; experience in assessing pitches is an asset.

2019 Middlebrook Prize for Young Canadian Curators
Call for Submissions
Founded in 2012, the Middlebrook Prize for Young Canadian Curators is awarded annually to an emerging Canadian curator who is under 30 with the aim to foster social innovation and curatorial excellence in Canada. Hosted and administered by the Art Gallery of Guelph, the winner is selected by a jury of arts leaders and receives a $5,000 honorarium, an exhibition at Art Gallery of Guelph, and mentorship from the curatorial team at the AGG and jury members.
Submissions will be accepted until February 14, 2019, at 5 pm. The winner will be announced in early March 2019 and the exhibition will be presented from September to December 2019 at the Art Gallery of Guelph. Proposals should emphasize contemporary Canadian art with attention to audience and public relevance.
Applications must include:
Letter of introduction: applicants should articulate their curatorial values and philosophy, as well as what the Middlebrook Prize means to them as a career-building opportunity
One-page exhibition proposal: proposal must include contact information, curatorial statement, list of artists, and description of potential outreach programming

Afin de multiplier les points de vue sur l’image en mouvement, Vidéographe offre une résidence de recherche aux artistes, chercheurs et commissaires Sourds. Cette résidence se veut versatile afin de répondre aux besoins de la personne sélectionnée.
Les artistes pourront utiliser cette opportunité pour expérimenter en vue de créer une nouvelle œuvre ou, de manière plus large, pour nourrir leur pratique. Les chercheurs, chercheuses ou commissaires sont invités à effectuer une recherche à partir des œuvres de notre collection vidéo. Leur recherche peut notamment être thématique, formelle ou historique et peut porter sur le corpus d’un ou plusieurs artistes.
La résidence sera suivie d’une présentation publique au cours de laquelle la personne sélectionnée présentera sa recherche.
Cette résidence s’adresse aux personnes Sourdes résidant à Montréal. La personne retenue recevra un montant forfaitaire de 2 000 $. Les artistes auront accès aux équipements de Vidéographe. Les chercheurs, chercheuses et commissaires pourront travailler dans les bureaux de Vidéographe ou en ligne via notre site Vithèque.com. Ils ou elles seront accompagnés par notre équipe dans leurs recherches dans le catalogue. Comme l’équipe de Vidéographe ne connaît actuellement pas le LSQ ou l’ASL, nous utiliserons les services d’interprètes, SRV Canada VRS, et le français ou l’anglais écrit.
Une seule personne sera sélectionnée dans le cadre de cet appel. Un comité de sélection évaluera les propositions en considérant la faisabilité du projet par rapport aux ressources dont nous disposons, l’intérêt et la rigueur de la proposition et les retombées anticipées pour l’artiste, chercheur, chercheuse ou commissaire.

Le Centre SAGAMIE lance un appel aux commissaires. Dans un esprit de collaboration, nous sommes intéressés à soutenir vos projets de recherche sous forme d’expositions, de publications, d’événements ou de projets laboratoire.
Dans un premier temps, nous invitons les commissaires à nous partager leurs champs privilégiés de recherche. Selon les propositions reçues, la participation des commissaires pourrait s’allier à des projets déjà en cours au Centre SAGAMIE ou faire l’objet de nouveaux développements à notre programmation.
Le présent appel est inclusif aux différentes communautés culturelles, aux Premières Nations, aux différents genres et aux différents groupes d’âge, y compris les premières expériences et les artistes agissant à titre de commissaire.
Les commissaires intéressés ont jusqu’au 15 mars 2019 pour nous faire part de leurs intérêts en nous faisant parvenir un dossier comprenant un Curriculum Vitae et un texte décrivant leurs champs de recherche.

L’appel de candidatures pour le Prix Sobey pour les arts 2019 est lancé !
Le Prix Sobey pour les arts est le prix le plus prestigieux décerné aux artistes canadiens de 40 ans et moins. Conjointement administré par la Fondation Sobey pour les arts et le Musée des beaux-arts du Canada, ce prix annuel, créé en 2002, offre à nos jeunes talents un soutien exceptionnel grâce à une aide financière importante et une reconnaissance à l’échelle nationale et internationale.
Le Musée des beaux-arts du Canada accepte présentement les dossiers de candidature pour le Prix Sobey pour les arts 2019 que souhaitent lui envoyer les agents, artistes et institutions reconnus. Les lignes directrices et les règles d’admissibilité du concours sont énoncées sur le site web ou téléchargeable ici-même. La date butoir des soumissions est le vendredi 1 mars 2019, à 18 h (HNE). Les dossiers peuvent être envoyés par courriel à sobey [arobas] beaux-arts [point] ca ou par la poste à Prix Sobey pour les arts, a/s Musée des beaux-arts du Canada, 380, promenade Sussex, Ottawa, Ontario, K1N 9N4.
Le Musée des beaux-arts mettra sur pied un jury composé de cinq conservateurs(trices) représentant des régions du Canada et d’un représentant international. Ce jury sélectionnera les 25 artistes de la liste préliminaire, les cinq artistes finalistes et le/la lauréat(e). Veuillez noter que le prix fait appel à un processus de mises en candidature et que seuls les dossiers complets seront pris en considération.

International Open Call for Exhibition Proposals 2019-20

apexart’s International Open Call is soliciting exhibition proposals from February 1-March 1, 2019. The four proposals with the highest scores will be presented by the organizers in the countries specified as part of apexart’s 2019-20 exhibition season. Curators, artists, writers, and creative individuals, regardless of experience level or location, are invited to submit a proposal online for any international (or domestic) location outside of New York City and its metropolitan area.
The submission process
Proposals should describe compact, focused, idea-driven, and original group exhibitions. No biographical information, CVs, links, or images will be accepted. Submissions cannot exceed 500 words and should be submitted in English.
The selection process
Rather than convene a small panel to review hundreds of ideas, apexart’s crowdsourced voting system utilizes many jurors to individually review a small subset of proposals. An international jury composed of 300+ individuals from a wide variety of professional backgrounds rate the proposals based on interest, content, and the organizers’ ability to communicate their ideas. To make the system as fair as possible, proposals are anonymous and randomized for each juror, which ensures that each submission receives the same consideration. apexart does not influence the decisions of the jury in any way.
The results
The organizers/curators of the four highest-ranked proposals will each receive an exhibition budget of up to USD 11,000 and will work closely with the apexart team to turn their ideas into apexart exhibitions. Exhibition organizers are expected and challenged to work within the funding provided to transform their winning proposals into strong, focused, noteworthy, and relevant exhibitions.

Les hasards de l’existence provoquent aussi bien infortunes que fortunes. Avec l’implication d’heureux imprévus, que nous plaçons en tête dans cet appel à contribution, est mise en relief une dimension qui est au cœur de la définition du terme sérendipité, soit la possibilité de faire une découverte importante, notamment scientifique, par hasard, par erreur ou par accident. Cette découverte correspond à quelque chose d’essentiellement bénéfique ou utile, comme celle de l’aspirine, de la pénicilline, du téflon ou du velcro. Pour paraphraser le mathématicien Henri Poincaré réfléchissant au rôle de son inconscient dans ses raisonnements, il s’agit d’effectuer une découverte sur notre manière de découvrir ou encore de trouver quelque chose d’important que nous ne cherchions pas, telle l’Amérique pour Christophe Colomb.

Appel à projet curatorial La Box 2019-2020
Installée dans un bâtiment du XVIIe siècle, l’École nationale supérieure d’art de Bourges est située dans le cœur historique de la ville de Bourges, dans le centre de la France à deux heures de Paris. Avec une surface de plus de 7000 m2, l’école offre de vastes espaces de travail pour les étudiant(e)s et de nombreux ateliers techniques dotés d’équipements importants constamment modernisés et renouvelés.
L’école, habilitée à délivrer le grade Master au diplôme national supérieur d’expression plastique, est conçue pour favoriser l’inventivité et la créativité, qui n’adviennent que si les moments d’échanges, de rencontres et de réflexions sont nombreux : elle est un lieu généreux et ouvert sur l’extérieur, favorisant les rencontres et les croisements artistiques. Son enseignement propose un contexte d’études et de recherches dont les méthodes sont toujours à réinventer pour inciter à la réflexion, aiguiser la curiosité, apprendre à être disponible, multiplier les discussions, articuler la mise en pratique avec les analyses critiques.
La galerie La Box est l’un des principaux outils pédagogiques de l’Ensa. Tous les ans, elle initie des actions en lien avec les enseignements de l’école en produisant une dizaine d’expositions d’artistes français ou étrangers. Depuis plus de dix ans, elle confie une partie de sa programmation à de jeunes commissaires invités choisis puis suivis par l’équipe pédagogique de l’école. Les curateurs développent un programme expérimental s’appuyant sur un module pédagogique mis en place pour assurer le lien avec les enseignants et les étudiants, pour permettre à ces derniers de questionner la problématique de travail du programme curatorial et rester au plus près des acteurs de la scène contemporaine.
