six day global happening

January 23rd – 28th 2012
www.sixhundredandsixtysixevents.com
project statement
666_events will take place over six days at the end of January 2012. People, whoever they are and wherever they happen to be are invited to take part in a global performance happening, interpreting short instructions, producing all manner of results. Each of the six events will last an entire day and be repeated, exactly or totally differently, 111 times, in quick succession or freely/precisely spaced. If each repetition were to last thirteen minutes, then the participants day would be totally engulfed, however, make each repetition last a couple of seconds and ninety-nine per cent of the day is left free. Performances can be meticulously planned in advance or spontaneously improvised on the day. Participants need not complete every event, but are free to pick and choose, following the time zone of their country. It is hoped, but not obligatory, that performances will be documented, in audio/visual form, or more abstractly in poetry, sculpture or sketch. However, this is not the central aim of the project and no-one need even know a performance has happened. Performances themselves can span the spectrum from private, unobserved and solitary to extravagant, collaborative and public. There are of course, as many ways to interpret these instructions as there are people to read them, wherein lies the focus of the excitement, coupled with knowing that somewhere in the world someone else may well be asking the same silly, serious, surreal or standard questions. Also, they need not be physical, but can be of the mind, perhaps more spiritually concentrated. Ultimately every question asked, action taken and energy expended is part of a much larger, shared experience, called, 666_events.

COL:LAB (Collaboration Laboratory) 2012
A Collaboration Residency initiated by freeDimensional (fD)
REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS
During the summer of 2012, fD will host a weeklong collaboration residency, taking the idea of artist residency and expanding it conceptually to address the needs of collaborative teams developing regional/local initiatives to provide direct service to or raise awareness of issues faced by culture workers doing the work of activists. Representatives of various cultural, human rights and social justice networks, organizations and movements are invited to submit proposals for collaborative initiatives they would like to shape with their peers. From these proposals, fD will select 6-8 teams to participate in COL:LAB 2012. Each selected team will have the opportunity to be in residence (along with 2 – 4 contributing partners) on Wasan Island (www.wasan-island.de) for a week in July 2012.
COL:LAB is intended is to provide participants with the time and resources to solidify their partnerships and shape their collaborative regional initiatives. In addition to accommodations and meeting space on the island (provided by the Breuninger Foundation), the collaboration teams will have access to different types of expertise (technology and planning/process consultants, funding specialists, presentation/communication experts, etc.) and various tools including case studies, workshops in various aspects of collaboration development and a database of related resources.
We imagine that the island environment will be the ideal setting and space for each collaboration team to move their ideas forward and for cross pollination between initiatives. While much of the time on the island will be unstructured (in order to allow each team to develop their own process and work), there will be regular sessions during which all teams will be able to discuss issues of common concern and share solutions that will help to inform their separate initiatives.
PROPOSAL GUIDELINES:
fD is seeking proposals from collaborative teams with innovative projects at the intersection of arts and social justice that contribute in unique ways to the defense of artist’s rights, free expression, and to supporting artists doing the work of activists. Projects should engage a matrix art spaces, service and community organizations, artists, culture workers and concerned citizens on a local or regional level. Collaborative teams whose proposals are selected will have the opportunity to participate in COL:LAB on Wasan Island in July 2012, to further develop their regional projects into actionable plans.
While each collaborative team will be assessed on the quality of their proposal, we ask each team to include in their application an estimation of funds they may already have available or accessible to cover the costs of travel to Wasan Island which is located in Canada just north of Toronto. Teams should be aware that they will need to acquire any visas or documentation required for their participating team members to enter Canada (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/index.asp). fD will provide letters and documentation for this process as requested.
Proposals should include:
1) Application form
2) 500 word project description including: concept/vision, short and long-term goals, target populations/ beneficiaries and expected outcomes
3) Diagram of project structure including: partnerships, roles and responsibilities.
4) Descriptions and bios for participating organizations and individuals.
Deadline: Please submit completed proposals in PDF form to sidd [arobas] freedimensional [point] org no later than December 29, 2011.

Call for Applications
Deadline: January 25, 2012
OCAD University’s Onsite [at] OCAD U gallery has partnered with Glenfiddich, the world’s most awarded single malt whisky, in the search for a Canadian artist to participate in the internationally renowned Glenfiddich Artist in Residence program. The selected artist will take residency at the company’s distillery in Dufftown, Scotland for three months, from June to August 2012.
« The Glenfiddich residency provides Canadian artists with a unique international experience working and living with other artists from around the world, » says OCAD U’s Curator, Charles Reeve. « We’re thrilled to be involved with this important program. »
The call for candidates closes January 25, 2012 – Robbie Burns Day. A shortlist of artists will be announced on February 15, 2012 at the Onsite [at] OCAD U gallery in Toronto.
Each year, Glenfiddich sponsors up to eight artists from around the world to live and work at the distillery in Dufftown. The residency, valued at roughly $20,000 per artist, represents Glenfiddich’s commitment to pioneering spirits, the arts and the communities it serves.
Artists live in crofts at the distillery and are encouraged to find inspiration from their unique setting in the Scottish Highlands. One of the special benefits for artists is the opportunity to work in an international community, to share in a dialogue with other artists and foster cross-disciplinary ideas.
The Glenfiddich Artist in Residence program has sponsored more than 76 artists since its inception in 2002. Canadian artists have included Helen Cho (2011), Damien Moppett (2010), Arabella Campbell (2009), Dave Dyment (2008), Jonathon Kaiser (2007), Annie Pootoogook (2006) and Myfanwy Macleod (2005).
The Artist in Residence program covers the cost of travel, living expenses and working materials while at the residency. Those interested in applying for the program may contact Charles Reeve at creeve [arobas] ocadu [point] ca for details.

Cove Park
27 January 2012
Visual Arts Residencies
FUNDED RESIDENCY OPPORTUNITIES 2012
Funded residencies are awarded by direct invitation or following an application process. Artists on residency are given the time, space, freedom and financial support to concentrate on the development of their work. Cove Park provides a supportive context in which artists can devise new projects, experiment and engage with artists working in different fields or with different approaches to their practice. Cove Park is happy to support and facilitate the production of specific projects during residencies and, equally, to ensure that those artists who wish to develop new ideas without the constraints of the completion of a final piece of work are free to do so. The opportunity for individual research and development is enhanced through the interaction and discussion that takes place between the artists on residency. This is promoted through a series of informal events, talks and presentations.
Application guidelines for Literature, Crafts and Visual Arts residencies in 2012 are now available.
Cove Park will award a minimum of two Visual Arts residencies, of between one to three months each, to take place during our May to September 2012 programme. Casa dell’Arte Residency Program
Spring 2012 Call for Applications
2012 Spring Residency: 24 April–7 June
Exhibition Opening: 8 June
2012 Autumn Residency: 3 September–12 October
Exhibition Opening: 13 October
www.casadellartegallery.com
Description
Casa dell’Arte Artists in Residence Program aims to provide an alternative platform for artistic production, collaboration and exhibition in the Eastern Mediterranean region by making the resources of Casa dell’Arte in Bodrum available to visual artists.
The residency program is held twice a year, in spring and autumn, with the participation of 5 artists and 1 curator for a period of 6 weeks. At the end of this period an exhibition is held at Casa dell’Arte Hotel of Arts & Leisure in Bodrum, prior to a general exhibition in Istanbul. A yearly publication documenting the program and the artworks is published in autumn with contributions from resident curator and artists.
The program also aims to develop a public outreach through the involvement of artists with the local community through an individual or a collaborative project. While each artist is required to have a project proposal in the beginning, we strongly encourage their interaction with the local setting and experimentation with alternative materials and or ideas that may emerge during the residency.
The Curator in Residence
Each year, Casa dell’Arte invites a young curator to develop the residency program around their curatorial perspective. The curator in residence is responsible for preparing the final exhibition held at Casa dell’Arte Hotel of Arts & Leisure and acting as the editor of the yearly publication in collaboration with Casa dell’Arte. In addition, all suggestions regarding the organization of the program, guest lecturers and institutional partnerships are strongly encouraged.
Application Procedure
The selection procedure to determine participating artists is carried out by Casa dell’Arte in collaboration with the curator in residence.
The residency program is open to young curators and visual artists from all disciplines. Applications are to be sent by email (residency [arobas] casadellarteturkiye [point] com) and must include following elements:
