Cachet de résidence et perdiems – 875$/semaine;
Remboursement du transport (territoire québécois);
Hébergement privé;
Assistance technique;

No 29.
Date : 15 novembre 2021
Veuillez envoyer vos textes à l’adresse appel [arobas] ancrages.ca .

Craftivism = craft + activism
Call for Proposals
The Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery is seeking project proposals from Canadian artists on the theme of craftivism for a potential major solo or group exhibition.
We are looking for large scale projects in the craft of ceramics, glass or copper enameling that push the boundaries of contemporary craft and installation art. We want your wild ideas and collaborations. Surprise us with something powerful that will make a statement and command attention when installed in one of our Galleries. Proposals should engage with current Canadian social issues to start conversations, education, and sharing towards the greater good. These proposals will be considered for potential exhibitions in future programming seasons at the Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery (Waterloo, Ontario), with the possibility to circulate across the country.
Projects can include community involvement, workshops, or other initiatives. The resulting exhibition can extend beyond the walls of the gallery into the community, public spaces, and more. We’re looking for truly innovative approaches to contemporary exhibitions. Show us your creativity and vision for an exhibition that brings the community together both physically and visually.
As Ele Carpenter writes in Activist Tendencies in Craft: “In these practices the social, performative and critical discourse around the work is central to its production and dissemination. Here craft is not simply a luddite desire for the localized handmade, but a social process of collective empowerment, action, expression and negotiation.” (Arnolfini Journal, April 2010)
Proposals should include:
- CV or resume of creator (PDF format)
- A single PDF document including:
1. Proposal title
2. List of participants (if known)
3. Rationale for the project
4. Social issue addressed
5. Description of the planned artworks, processes, and installation including any unique installation requirements
6. Description of possible educational or public engagement activities
7. Materials needed
8. Project timeline
9. Draft budget items and costs (including CARFAC fees for artists – Category II Institution) - Up to 5 supporting images (past work or concepts for the proposal)
For information call Denis at 519-746-1882 x: 231 or by email at denis [arobas] theclayandglass [point] ca
We welcome submissions that are representative of the diversity of our community and encourage proposals from artists of colour, Indigenous artists, Deaf artists, artists with disabilities, and members of the LGBTQ2S+ community. If you require accommodations or assistance with your proposal, contact Denis Longchamps.
About the Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery
The Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery celebrates contemporary ceramic and glass artists engaged in conceptual, technical or material research. Located in Waterloo, Ontario, we are a not-for-profit institution that aims to collect, exhibit, research, promote, and preserve work by Canadian artists and makers in clay, glass, and copper enameling to represent the diversity of the Canadian landscape. Our rotating exhibitions celebrate and support diverse artists from across Canada working in these mediums and present their work to the public. Through exhibitions that address current and relevant issues, and public programs that engage, educate, and inspire, we are accessible to all. An essential organization within the Canadian cultural landscape, the Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery is a site of leadership that influences craft, design, and fine art communities.
A relevant and dynamic cultural organization, the Gallery provides supportive education programs to people from across the region. Using exhibitions as a starting point, individuals develop arts vocabulary, arts appreciation and cultivate confidence in their interpretation of contemporary artworks. People who return to The Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery many times come to understand that the Gallery is a space with dynamic exhibitions, ever-changing hands-on programs and multiple opportunities for learning.
Land Acknowledgement
We acknowledge that the Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery is located on the traditional territory of the Attawandaron, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples. The Gallery is situated on the Haldimand Tract, land promised to Six Nations in 1784 that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River; yet, today, the Six Nations reside on less than five per cent of this unceded territory. Indigenous peoples have inhabited this land for thousands of years, and we respectfully share this territory in peace and friendship. We are grateful and we re-affirm our commitment to do the work, to unlearn and relearn, towards a true reconciliation.

Critical Mass: A Centre for Contemporary Art is a Port Hope-based not-for-profit arts organization dedicated to bringing contemporary art experiences to our community, in Port Hope, Ontario.
All of our lives have been shaken by both the pandemic and the important cultural and social issues brought to the forefront this past year. We are now at a time and place of change.
Where do we go from here?
As we move into our second decade as a centre for contemporary art, we are looking for artists to look widely, think deeply, discuss and lead new programming that addresses current societal shifts to expand our thinking and deepen our relationship with every member of the community. Critical Mass exists to generate interactive contemporary art experiences for all.
What have we learned? How have we adapted? What do we carry forward? What do we leave behind?
Join us in mapping our direction by addressing real change on a personal, collective and institutional level.
To reach our goals we are looking for multiple artists to lead us in generating conversations and safe community engagement art activities that shift all of our thinking about contemporary art and our place in the world. We are seeking 4 Artists in Residence, 2 Sound Artists, 2 Community Artist Leaders and 2 Artist Innovators who want the opportunity to examine these important issues with Critical Mass and the Port Hope community over the next year.

Artists in residence are asked to address the curatorial theme of emergence or “where do we go from here?” in their residency project. How are you as an artist or artist collective addressing critical contemporary issues in your work? What do you want to change? How would access to our urban/rural audience make a difference in your practice?
- B) Opportunity #2: Sound Artists (2 positions – Begin work in fall 2021 for launch summer 2022)
How would access to our SoundWalks mobile app enhance your practice and further develop your thinking about important contemporary issues? How would you address these in a soundwalk in Port Hope?
- C) Opportunity #3: Community Art Leaders (2 positions – Begin community consultations Summer 2021 with project completion by Spring/Summer 2022)
How would you use your community-based art practice to act as a catalyst of change within our urban/rural community? What grassroots approach would you imagine trying that could excite interest and help our community recover from the pandemic and importantly connect with each other?
- D) Opportunity #4: Art Innovators (2 positions – Begin Fall 2021, end by Summer 2022)
As a curator, artist or artist collective do you have a vision for the future? Is there a project you would like to initiate that can develop over time? Consult with us so that together we can create new ways of presenting meaningful contemporary art experiences that resonate now and in the future.
You or your artist collective can apply to one, many, or all of our opportunities. The Critical Mass curatorial team will consider all proposals to curate a cohesive, meaningful/ healing/ thoughtful/ challenging, and visionary contemporary art program for the Port Hope community now and in the future.

CALL FOR PROPOSALS: Nomadic artist residencies / La Serre – arts vivants
Deadline date: August 8, 2021; Location: everywhere; Source: La Serre
For the second year, LA SERRE – arts vivants offers a collective nomadic artistic residency program. Conceived as a collaborative research process, this laboratory stands as an intersectorial resourcing space based on expertise exchange and creation of ideas.
Through several meetings and activities spread throughout the year, the residency program invites eight live art practitioners to develop the prototype of an artistic project at the junction of several disciplines, knowledges and/or know-hows. Inspired from a working method developed together with L’Amicale de production, the creation of a prototype stands as an intermediary step in a creation process, which can open up unexpected and unusual bifurcations.
For more information: https://laserre.ca/en/workshops/local-residencies
ABOUT LA SERRE
LA SERRE originated from the essential need to rethink live arts creation and production support structures. It is an offshoot of the OFFTA festival, a defining arts event founded in 2007 that has become essential to ensure the vitality of the local live arts ecosystem. For over ten years, OFFTA has participated to the decompartmentalization of artistic disciplines and audiences, as well as to the promotion of over 600 emerging artists on the local, national and international levels. In 2015, in the framework of sustainable development and with the goal of better serving its community with its expertise, networks and tools, OFFTA changed its name and broadened its mandate to become LA SERRE – arts vivants.

Request for Proposals: Legacy Park Mosaic Project, City of Lethbridge
Request for Proposals – Legacy Park Mosaic Project
The City of Lethbridge is inviting Artists to submit proposals for a public art project in conjunction with establishment of a new 30-hectare regional park located in the Uplands/Blackwolf neighborhoods on the city’s north side. The successful Artist will be contracted to create an exterior mosaic on the Legacy Park Group Picnic Shelter. The proposed artwork should attract users of all demographics to the space while helping to create a warm and inviting community gathering space. The west-facing side of the wall is highly visible to a main parking lot and is positioned as a sort of “welcoming sign” – something that will be many visitors’ first experience of Legacy Park. Both sides of the 3.2m high x 7.95m wide wall are available to the artist. The contracted artist will also lead a process to mentor a local emerging artist. The mentorship is intended to provide a local artist with an introduction to the mosaic process as well as providing them with skills to work independently on future projects.
Background:
Design for Legacy Park began in 2009 and included the formation of a community advisory committee, as well as multiple public engagement sessions. Layout of the park is purposefully driven with the western half offering open space and passive activities and the eastern half offering active recreation. The transition between the two occurs by way of pathways, a community pavilion and picnic shelters.
Construction of the park began in 2016. The core amenities of the park include an outdoor challenge course, playground, pickle ball, tennis, and basketball courts, softball diamond, outdoor fitness centre, boardwalk, amphitheatre, pond lookout, Community Pavilion and Plaza, Spray Park, and Discovery Playground. Concurrent to the park construction, a skate park was designed and constructed in consultation with the local skating community and the City of Lethbridge’s Parks department worked with the Horticultural Society of Lethbridge to develop an ornamental garden in the northwest corner of the site. Completion of all phases of the park construction is anticipated for late 2021.
Budget
The all-inclusive budget for the design, fabrication and installation of the Picnic Shelter Mosaic as well as the mentorship of a local emerging artist is $100,000 plus GST. This fee will be inclusive of all project costs.
Eligibility
The competition is open to qualified professional visual artists as defined by the Canada Council for the Arts. This professional context excludes the school environment, and so a student attending college or in an undergraduate degree program at a university may not enter this competition.
Proposal Submission
Interested artists are invited to view complete RFP details, submit questions and submit proposals here.
This opportunity closes on: September 8, 2021

In partnership with the German Federal Horticulture Show—BUGA 23—the Land Art Generator will launch a transformative renewable energy design challenge in March of 2022 with $40,000 in prize awards. To learn more, join BUGA 23: Platform at 6 PM Central European Time (12 PM Eastern Time) on Thursday, June 24.
As a part of the German Bundesgartenschau (BUGA 23) that will open in Mannheim in 2023, the latest LAGI design challenge brings together a number of themes and ideas for inspiration.
Just as a garden is a productive landscape for nourishment that also brings us joy and pleasure, how can we re-imagine our energy landscapes so that they too bring joy and pleasure for our communities?
LAGI 2022 will invite proposals for renewable energy systems designed with a social lens for a range of scales around the City of Mannheim—from the private garden to the city square.
LAGI 2022 Mannheim will expand what is possible using existing clean energy technologies to create beautiful, sculptural modules that can plug into the smart postcarbon city.
Selected design entries to LAGI 2022 Mannheim will be included in a new book to be published by HIRMER and featured in an exhibition at BUGA 23 with expected attendance in the millions. The top two designs as chosen by the jury will receive cash awards of $30,000 and $10,000 USD.
More about BUGA 23
The German federal garden show (“BUGA”*= short for “Bundesgartenschau”) will be taking place in Mannheim from April through to October 2023. BUGA 23 is a lot more than just a flower show: It will improve the sustainable quality of life and lifestyle in Mannheim. Over seven Kilometers long, a stretch of green, will create new places to walk, play and relax, at the same time improving the city’s air quality and climate. BUGA is also part of Mannheim`s North East Green Corridor Project, connecting 230 hectares of green areas forming a corridor stretching into the city centre.
One major highlight will be a 2 km long overhead cable car system spanning the river Neckar, and connecting Luisenpark with the new BUGA-Grounds.
Creating a healthy environment for Mannheim’s future, climate-neutral in harmony with the natural environment, BUGA 23 is an innovative experimental field for living together in the city sustainably. It complies with the UN Sustainability goals which are incorporated in Mannheim`s mission statement for 2030. Solutions to problems and challenges of our time will be explored relating to climate, the environment, sustainable agricultural production and food security.

No. 105 – Dossier Nouvel nouvel age
